cranking up...slowly... - fountain.jpg (0/1)

I've been rebuilding my computer. Let me warn you that it takes a lot
of work to manage 800 gigs of programs/data! Esp if you need to
rebuild from scratch.
(and are slowly recovering from major medical problems. I almost
didn't make it back.)
So... just for fun, a simple little image:
Kay at the mountain fountain. Daz Studio, terragen, and a background
pic I made in Alaska.

Welcome back, Ron. Jeanne did a super job keeping all the PSPers up to date
about you. Good luck redoing your computer.

I hope you have been (successfully) rebuilding more than your
computer. Welcome back Ron, and, you should know, even I have been
holding the Poser fort for you in your absence - I hope the place
looks neat and tidy and the pupils have advanced :-)

And a lovely image it is, Ron. I hope Kay wished for your
continued recovery and no more medical problems. It is a wishing
fountain, right? I'm so glad to see you're back. :-)
800 gigs of stuff? Eeek ::::covering eyes:::::

I'd say that's not such a slow crank-up to put together a charming, colorful
image and rebuild a giant-size computer. We were well aware that you had a
rough trip and so humbly grateful that you decided to come back. You still
have important things to do here.

Glad to see you productive again.
I have a new backup program that is supposed to be able to totally restore
everything. Yet I haven't even tested it yet. Slapping self soundly.

Thank you, Vern.
Yes, she also collected all of your replies and mailed a hard copy to
me each week, while I was unable to get on line. I certainly
appreciated all of the comments, it helped keep my spirits up.

I recall telling Adriaan that he'd improve with practice and it's
obvious he has.
Neat and tidy? I should make a picture! Four stacks of CD boxes,
three spindles holding 100 CD's each, a fifty, a stack for Microsoft
programs and upgrades, two stacks of 3.5 floppies (one of these days,
I'll manage without these...) My computer desk looks like a gamer
went nuts with the 'Towers of Hanoi'.
As for me... well, they say I"m improving.
I know you don't normally do 3d, but you did some nice advice while I
was out.

Thank you. Incidentally, I saw that my server change blocked your
email to me, and I'm a little hesitant to give out the new one
publicly. However, if you have my old email addy, just change the
'bellsouth' to 'earthlink' and I'll get it.
There's something magical about that fountain! It adds colors to the
scene that aren't normally noticed.
And I'm very happy to be back. Thanks for your concern.

More good news- my kidneys are functioning again, so I'm off of
dialysis! My lungs have improved to the point I'm off oxygen, and my
heart surgeon says that everything looks good. I've lost 50 lbs but
am still so weak I cannot get up a single floor of stairs. (however,
my physical therapist is making me exercise more each day.)
Thanks again for the extra work of making the hard copy and mailing
them to my house.

Thank you!
It was compounded by the fact that many of the programs/data on the
hard drives had never been archived, and I had to transfer everything
to CD before I could format and restore. I'm seeing the light at the
end of the tunnel, though.

That is all good news and you're more than welcome for the message
forwarding. You had enough trauma to deal with. You didn't need to be cut
off from your graphics buddies on top of all that.

Getting dreadfully close to a terabyte of stuff there Ron :) I have 6
running hd's spread out in 3 computers. 560 gigs of space total, about 300
gb used. In 3 systems. You got a lot of STuff man! :) Even DVD's are
dreaded now, and I think of CD's as disposable floppies these days. HD's
fail, unfortunately. And even having my important data backed up on 3 hd's
each on a different system still isn't quite safe. So, I keep the books of
DVD's filling up.
Now, too, I have a new dSLR, shoot in RAW+JPG, and have begun the process of
learning some of the 3D stuff. More storage needed :)
It's mighty good to see you back. Lots of folks been missing you Ron.
stay Well!
McG.

Will do, Ron. I'm sending a quickie now, just to confirm the
address and I'll write more later. I haven't had enough caffeine
and right now, my state of mind is.. out of state ;-)

Just got it, will say hi to Linda for you. Got to be brief, I'm in
