My favourit is salt herring but it's very expensive in Australia and hard to
find. :-)

I like salt herring, but they're very expensive in Australia and can be hard
to find. :-)

I bet you'd like fresh herrings with onions even better... I know I
do :-)

Salt herrings were common here and not expensive. Fresh (green)
herrings though are pricier. I was writing in the past tense because
for environmental and/or over-fishing reasons, herrings are becoming
rare. The annual festival of the first herrings being brought in by
sea at Scheveningen had to be delayed because of it.
