Can anyone tell me why the eliminate white and eliminate black filters don't
work for me anymore? They do not work in either PSP X or PSP 9. The error
message is that they "passed bad parameters"
Is there another filter or script that does the same thing?

Never mind I found SsoftTranparent script that I bought from Howard.

Is this the filter under Transparency that has both Eliminate Black
and Eliminate White? I just checked that one, and although I don't
get an error message, it does not work on a background layer. Could
this be your problem?

Yes, it is listed under Transparency and no, I was very careful to be sure I
had a layer beneath the one I was trying to eliminate white or black on.
I even tried deleting and reinstalling the filters. But at least
theSheilsoft sp? script does the same thing apparently with more choices. I
had just been in the habit of using the transparency filters.
Thanks Joske,

PSP has a built-in way to do this in three steps:
1. Selections > Select All.
2. Selections > Modify > Select Color Range. Set Subtract mode. Set
the color you want to remove in the swatch. (You can Ctrl-click
sample it from the image or anywhere else on the screen or define
it in the Color Picker.) Set the Tolerance around that color. (All
colors within the Tolerance of the target color will be completely
removed along with the target color.) Choose the Softness you want.
(Colors in the Softness range will be removed less and less the
more different they are from the colors being completely removed.)
Press OK.
3. Selections > Invert and press the Delete key to remove the color.
For step 3 to create transparency your selection must be on a regular
layer, not a background layer.

Oh, thank you very much . It is shocking the things I do not know about PSP

Doris, did you have an active selection when you tried to run the filter
that gave you the error? I see that you've been able to achieve what you
wanted in other ways, but if you get this problem again with other filters,
try doing Selections>Clip to Canvas before running the filter.

Thank you, Nightingail that is good to know. I had a problem with a Xero

Many Thanks, Doris
