In PSP X, I used Effects>> Art Media Effects>>Colored Pencil set at Detail 90 , Opacity 25. Then Image >> Grey Scaled>> Duplicated. Then Image >>Negative Image and set Blend Mode to Dodge. Then Gausian Blur set at 14.

I cloned out some branches and rearranged others with pasting as selections. I used Eraser and selecting and deleting with a white layer underneath to get rid of the speckles around the bird.

Very Very nice Doris but is there any way in which you can avoid posting in
HTML? It makes it a bugger to reply to your posts.

It really does look like a pencil drawing, well done.

I rather liked him bright, but this is most probably more realistic :-))

Nice, Doris. Something else to try, if you wanted to simulate pencil
markings, is to add a layer above what you have now, set the blend mode
of that layer to Overlay, fill the layer with medium gray (the layer
will still look empty), add some monochrome noise, and then apply Motion
Blur to the noise layer.

Very nice job! It looks like it was hand-drawn.

I can see this one too. Very nice shot of the cardinal. I have a lot of hard
time getting birds to stay still enough to photograph. So far, only the
geese at the park stood around for photos. But they are very used to people
to begin with. :-)

Both sketch and photo a delight to look at, Doris!

Really nice, Doris, but I especially like the photo. Beautiful
cardinal :-)

Hi Fuzzie. I did not take this picture. I am getting my photos from my son
or from places like stock.xchng and www.freefoto.com.
I bought the camera but don't have it set up yet.

Many thanks, Lori. I tried the other method on another bird photo and it did
not work nearly as well

That's ok. :-) These are nice resources for practice pictures, too. I'm sure
you'll have even more fun once your camera is all set up.
