It's a lot faster than finding the embroidery cottons and needles!
Amazingly realistic.

I really like this effect Catlady...would you mind sharing the download
site? I think it's the best rendition of this texture I have seen. Nicely
done!

Thank you. The embroidery result is a little peculiar, isn't it?
The strands of yarn look quite good but there are far more colors
in the image than you would have colors in an actual piece of
embroidery, which makes the result look weird. Whether or not it
looks like embroidery, I like what you did.

It is certainly possible (maybe not easy) to use that many colors
if you want . . embroidery threads come varigated (different colors
or shades in one skein) so that you get the effect of more colors.
It would take a lot of work to put that many colors in a piece without
varigated thread.

I've counted over 60 colors in one embroidery I have but it is
made of panels, each of which has fewer colors. I've never seen
one with hundreds of colors. I know you can use variegated thread
or just buy up all the colors available in the store but it is more
than any sane person can do to put those hundreds of colors into
one piece of embroidery. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it :)

Was that piece of embroidery made by you? - the one you counted the
colors? How many pieces have you done? Just because you have never
seen one with hundreds of colors, does that mean it doesn't exist?
Those are just the first few questions that come to mind and I'm
sticking to them. :)
