The birds look good, Gail 2! Your cat photo is definitely cute, too ;-)
Personally, I'd make the borders smaller so as not to detract from the cat's
sweet little face.

Good mouse practice!
I have an old - not very good -tablet, so still prefer to draw with the
mouse.
I find holding my little finger firmly on the mousemat and drawing seems to
work fine.

My tablet and I are not on speaking terms at the moment, as I said, I prefer
the mouse (now wait for all tablet owners to prove me wrong, hehe)
It isn't so much the small space, but getting the pressure right in my case.
