Very impressive artwork! I envy you people who actually do have
real artistic abilities.

And nothing wrong with your English skills. My abilities in any
language except for my native one (which happens to be English)
are virtually non-existant. Most of you people overseas are way
ahead of us in North America in being able to communicate in
languages other than your native one!

Oh, this is wonderful. and thank you for telling us how you did it. I have really been excited by seeing the "painting" techniques here and ordered buZZ pro 3 after seeing what David Gray did with it
I have also been looking for tutorials on doing some of the same things in PSP and have collected some to use to help me better understand the techniques and for practice.

This is one done in with BuZZ Pro>> Simplifier one and Edges>> Enhance in PSP. The original was from www.freefoto.com

Very nice effct doris.
I am only trying Buzz yet, I would like to find the way to reproduce some of David's effects too.

Well, Doris, the image you posted was a giant 338,845 bytes. I've
attached three copies of your image at, respectively, half the
size, one fifth the size, and one tenth the size of your image.
All of them capture the general appearance of your image. The
half-size one is close to the polite limit of 150 KB per attachment.
All together my three attachments are still smaller in size than
the one image you posted. Please try and use File > Export > JPEG
Optimizer to make reasonably sized attachments. Thanks. (I'll
grant you that your image is harder to compress than many but my
examples show it is still quite possible.)

Can someone explain how you..
"Painted using the original photo as material (pattern)."

Since the actual picture is made up of numerous patterns.

Easy as pie:

-Open a photo, a pattern, any other image
-Start a new image
-Activate the Paint Brush
-Set the Foreground Material in the Materials Palette to
the Pattern of the image (photo, whatever) already open
-Paint on your new image with the Paint Brush

See what happens? The Paint Brush is using the other open image to
paint with :-)

Thanks David.
Spring is the bigger worker here, the colours were there in the first place.

Red Poppies always make me so sad..
thinking of the wasted lives.
They say red poppies where the first thing to grow
after the battles of world war one and have long been
for reme,berance (here at least)

what a lovely photo though I personally
loved the painterly version you did.
