Here's my first Apophysis picture. I was playing around with the settings and got a solar winds type look. So I then did some more work on it in PSP X:

1. Starfield background: On new layer above image, flood fill black, then added monochrome random noise and adjusted to just enough stars. Flattened image.

2. Used a very old, old Lens Flare filter (only works on flattened image). Anyone know of any other Lens Flare filters? This one is so old I forgot where I got it from.

3. Flattened and duplicated the image. On the duplicate, I applied the starburst lighting filter, picking up a color from the center of the original lens flare.

4. I think I used color or luminance layer blend on the starburst lighting mode.

5. Duplicated the original again and brought to top. Set layer blend to Dodge. Then used the eraser brush and reduced opacity to remove the sun area so that the sun below it showed thorugh. Because of the way the sun got too saturated once the blend mode was 'Dodge', this step was necessary.

That is how I created the image. The Dodge layer blend made the solar winds area more vibrant, almost glowing. The thing I didn't like was that it wasn't more vibrant and glowing near the sun though. I had no idea how to accomplish that. This is just a quick one anyway, just to try out the Apophysis program. I think this will be an interesting program to work with.
