What are you, Norman Rockwell doing a self-portrait from
looking at himself in the mirror? <grin>
Really nice job. Besides my lack of artistic ability so bad
I flunked Crayons in Kindergarten, my vector skils are so
poor I gave up very soon trying to vectorize in the old
Lotus Free Lance. Your hand looks like you intentionally
faked it but the balls look like they were done by one of
those expensive rendering workstationss. Well done!

Thanks Jerry, if you could have seen the photographing of the hand, you'd
have fallen about laughing, not easy holding your hand in certain positions
whilst photographing it with the camera in the other!
Vectors are good fun and not as difficult as you'd imagine, once you've got
your head around the basics...and a lot of patience.

I fail on all counts, Joëlle, including being too feeble
(really, not been feeling at all well) to hold my Rebel XT
in one hand. Still, good people like you with natural
artistic ability find this type of thing quite easy and
others, such as myself, find it quite difficult. But, God
gives us each a unique set of skills, don't you think?
Nice seeing your work again.

Thanks Jerry, flattery will always work! :-))
I used my old 'brick' Sony Mavica for photographing my limbs, it's somewhat
clunky, but everything is easy to use and the screen is huge.
I wouldn't fancy doing this with a DSLR.
Hope you feel better soon.

I can imagine that :-)) Try it some time with 1.8 KG. (Camera + lens + flash
unit), in one hand, and a moving insect on the other, then the whole
neighborhood has something to laugh about ! (At least over here they do,
if I do so. :-))
But on this picture you did very well and the vectors are really great!

Thanks Sago :-)
I think you achieve more complicated contortions than moi! Also, you camera
must be more difficult to manipulate with one hand. The old Mavica is very
square, flat and easy(ish) to hold with an enormous screen.
What I do miss with the non-DSLR is the remote cable release thingie, that
was really handy.
I haven't any of my old cameras any more, but kept the release cable!

Actually, Joëlle, it was a bad metaphor. Draino is a very
caustic chemical drain cleaner, at one time, it was a base
substance (opposite from an acid and measured in Ph) that
would literally burn your hands. I should've said that glass
marbles are like really large bulk fiber and would come out
pretty fast and probably not too pleasantly. Maybe I should
quit on the, er..., graphic explanations before I get even
more behinder ... <grin>

It's Drano, not Draino - see http://www.drano.com. Drano is a product
of S.C. Johnson, who also have other products familiar in the US such
as Saran, Ziploc, Pledge, Shout, Edge, Fantastik, Glade, Vanish,
Windex, Off! and Raid. Originally Drano was a product of the Drackett
company. The name features the "Krispy Kreme" style of spelling so
popular in the U.S.

Drano Crystal Clog Remover still is a base. You can't repeal chemistry
by your personal fiat I'm afraid. The product is 30 to 60% by weight of
sodium hydroxide http://tinyurl.com/p4zns. (The product also contains
aluminum which reacts with the sodium hydroxide to produce heat.) Other
Drano brand products are also alkaline, for instance Drano Professional
Strength Foamer Clog Remover http://tinyurl.com/nsvsk.
> substance (opposite from an acid and measured in Ph)
It's pH not Ph, as in negative base 10 logarithm of the hydrogen ion
activity. The characters in "pH" refer to "potential" and "hydrogen",
since pH was originally defined by measuring electrical potential in
a cell relative to a hydrogen electrode. Neutral solutions are
considered to have a pH of 7. Acids create solutions with lower pH
values and bases ones with higher pH values. pH usually lies in the
range 0 to 14 because of the self-ionization constant of water. The
Drano Professional Strength Foamer Clog Remover has a pH of about 13.

Yes, it would serve you well to keep off topics about which you can't
write with accuracy and stay on the topic of PSP, for which the group
is intended. I realize this will be tricky for you as your knowledge
is mostly limited to cars but it's still worth a try.

No need to air your voiding dysfunctions here, since you have already
done this in detail elsewhere http://tinyurl.com/pxx9x. Poo-poo jokes
are in childish poor taste, can cause offense, and add nothing to a
group dedicated to the subject of making graphics with PSP. Please try
and stay on-topic.

If you want to be a vegetable, be aware that they have no
rights other than to be dug up and cooked. Meaning: take me
on with your small-fry correction and strap yourself in for
a long ride. As to what I say about my doctors in public is
free for you to spread around by definition, as are your
insulting, arrogantly worded comments.
No body cares how much pH or Ph is in Drayno. I was making a
light point to a nice person, so you coulda done both of a
favor and stayed with your head and body with dirt piled up
on it. Your form of cognition, reasoning, and dealing with
people is the most peculiar since the last know-it-all Kris
Zaklika used to regularly insult his own customers. Many
think you he after a gender change. I don't know nor do I
care.
Being a self-centered, American-centric egotist with
dellusions of grandeur, I think only of and about myself.
And, Spandex root-a-bagel, your 15 minutes are up. Meet me
on Usenet somethime and lets see who "wins".

I admire your work greatly and only learned today that I do
/not/ admire your morals or politics, at least to the extent
I read them from you. So, I shan't talk to you again unless
you attack my position first. One more time, as my mother

benefit to the post-9/11 events is that foreign malcontents
have a much tougher time getting in my country and we have a

I don't see Joëlle say anything wrong. This is exactly what you did
to me a few years back in the public beta 8 group. You imagine a
slight and then it's no holds barred. Just like back then, you
probably cannot and will not even explain why all of a sudden
someone becomes an enemy to be called names and attacked from then
on.
You should be banned if only for continual slurs of 'foreigners'.

Then why did you choose it as a topic to write about? Why do you
resent corrections of factual matters when you yourself are ready to
jump in and correct the opinions of others? There isn't one standard
for Jerry and another for everyone else.

I'm afraid it makes others embarrassed to be American and this selfish
attitude on your part is what makes Americans disliked by some. Envy
and resentment also come into it, of course. Not all who dislike the
U.S. are exactly unbiased. Fortunately most Americans, be they people
or vegetables, are well-intentioned towards their fellow inhabitants
on this earth. I wish you would be too.

I'm not interested in winning some kind of competition. It takes no
talent to be crudely insulting anyway, though I can make exemplary
posts of yours available here if need be. Simple vegetables have
nothing they need to prove or fight about. I'm curious why you brought
up a Jewish food to make fun of my name though. Do you have a problem
with things Jewish as well?

What slurs, Mrs. Joske? There's a whole lot more
"fereigners" where I live than where you live, trust me, so
you're in no position to lecture me on anything. Quote me
even one racial, nationality, or religious slur, please.
Preferably, do this on Usenet where my free speech isn't
abridged, as here, OK?

There is no competition. You lose before anybody digs you
up. I'm not abusing you, it is /you/ that call yourself a
vegetable, not me. I only speak kindly to humans, and then,
only those who speak kindly and respectfully to me, neither
of which you have ever done. I can see that I made a serious
misjudgment of this several NGs, as you have a much larger
following than me. That's Okey, Dokey. I need to defend what
is right even in the face of persecution. Hey, BTW, how come
you don't dice it up on Usenet? It is much more
vegetable-friendly.
Hope you enjoy being hoisted on your own petard, I certainly
enjoyed doing it.

That's it. I wrote Travis a note saying you have done this time and

Now, it's another note to Travis, stating I want you off these
newsgroups *right now* so that I as a 'foreigner' but far more
justified (because actually using the product and showing it for a

Wendy - if this were Usenet, I'd agree with you. But it's a moderated
forum, with stated rules and regulations, which Jerry is flouting time and
time again. Good lord, he just attacked the only person who's shown him
any public support!
How many lurkers and new people find their way here, only to be exposed to
his venom? Is that the face Co rel wants to show to the world?
Please ask Travis to deal with him. I've already registered my complaint,
as have others, but you've got the Bat Phone, you might as well use it.

In case you didn't see it, here is what someone called Travis Wolfe
at Corel had to say in a post in the Photography newsgroup today:
"Please remember the purpose of this groups is for discussing
photographic
editing with PSP. Please refrain from discussing personal beliefs and
practices and stick to the group's topic. See the link below for CNEWs
Rules
and Regulations. Contact me directly with questions.
http://support.corel.com/scripts/ri...&p_faqid=758058
Thank you,
Travis"
I'd be grateful if you would follow his advice instead of treating
these forums as some place for popularity contests or for hoisting
vegetables on petards. You aren't making much headway with either
and it really would be more pleasant for everyone if you could bring
yourself to follow the rules. Please do so. I for one would appreciate
it.

Mmmmmmmmmm... reminds me... BBQ season is nigh. I'm feeling a little veggie
kebab.
Sorry, Spandy. A girl's gotta eat.

A petard is a kind of bomb or firework so you'd be searching for the
veggie all over if you were using it for cooking. The etymology is
interesting though (http://www.bartleby.com/61/89/P0218900.html). I
feel trapped in some kind of childish joke to which there is no end.

In a manor of speaking. A petard was essentially a sack of gunpowder,
which a petarder would nail to castle doors, then light the fuse. If
the fuse burned a little fast, the petarder was very likely to be
'Hoist' (thrown into the air) by his own petard.
Today it means to be caught in one's own plots.
People still use it in the original meaning but have no idea why. The
petard sometimes becomes a Tie, by which a person is hung. (thus
making more sense to the modern people.)

Yes, though the word origin suggests Monsieur Joseph Pujol.

Today it suggests Mr. Methane.
