They're quite stunning Barb.
Love the way the birds have been coloured and shaded. I think the red
building is the Imperial Palace.
What a collection to have. The downside is that they are so fragile.
Do you keep them in an album?
This Courtisane is a very intricate design. Very hard to cut I would think.
My sister is expert in the Swiss art of papercutting and has made some
beautiful things.
She makes her own designs, they look very much like these:

Thank you for posting, I enjoyed it very much :-)

These are great Barb!
I remember those seeing in China, but I never bought them!
I was so much younger then, and didn't had the "eye" for art
I now have. Can you (Me) regret something from the past?
YES!

Beautiful collection, Barb. I haven't been following any preceding
conversation about this, where did you get them?

Very beautiful work - I thought for a moment they WERE your sisters. Love
the whole paper thing.
I saw a bit on iris folding designs recently, it's nowhere near as
complicated but I think my fumble fingers could handle it. I might give it
a try.

Yes, they are very fragile. Forgot to mention that the paper
used is as thin as tissue paper - maybe it is tissue paper. Each is
in a tissue paper folder which is with others of the same type
(subject) inside heavy paper folders with Chinese writing on the
outside.
I like scherenschnitt very much and have a couple books on how to
do that. :)) Needless to say, I haven't done any.

:)) I've done quite a bit of paper folding (made some really neat
Origami boxes) and not difficult to do.

My son was in China for 9 months in the early 90's going to the
University of Bejing and traveling. He obviously was thinking of me
when he bought them! :)

You are welcome to them. Posting too many may get me in trouble
since they are not something I created. :)

I often think that our fingers can do much more than we think! It all comes
down to lots of patience.
I wish I could get my sister to get to grips with her digital camera and her
computer. I can't help much, we don't live in the same country.
Her work is beautiful, I would love to show it to the world :-))

Yes, dragging along the computer containing other interests.
Just looking at my garden today and realize it needs some serious work
that will take much effort and a very long hours. -sigh- I need a
couple cute muscular garden boys. :)

>I saw a bit on iris folding designs recently
I do iris borders using PSP v9; It's easy:
1. open a small white square, say 2" by 2", non-transparent
2. set a gradiant background of your choice, I use a rainbow with lots of
repeats
3. rotate the image clockwise 5 degrees, and repeat this rotate
4. you'll see a background of iris-like pattern begin to form
5. be sure to make the image small again or your cpu will become very busy
9 such rotations gets you a diamond-shaped center suitable for a picture or
note.
