Announcing the 2006 Valentine's Massacre winners (Late but Well-Earned!)

In the Best Simulation of the Nouveau Artiste style -

Lis's absolutely horrendous animation "Wil U B Myne?" This horrific example of the accidents that can occur when well-intentioned people are left alone with the ability to make something blink - sent the judges into seclusion (thus the lateness of the results!)

Lis, you are hereby sentenced to , I mean awarded, one free class of your choice at www.lvsonline.com. You can sign up for anything you like, but I highly recommend something with no whirring, buzzing, clicking or blinking! Contact me for info to receive your prize.

Next, in the Best Technically Well-Executed Category - our own Jaggiemeister, Ron Vick - for "Let It Fly." Scary, truly scary. A glimpse into the brain of a normally mild-mannered man - be afraid, be very afraid.

Ron - despite your crimes against Hallmark, you will receive a prize-winning photo from world-famous boreal photographer, Ron Lacey, mounted and matted to 8x10. I highly recommend his prize-winning fox, but I'm sure he'll let you make your own choice. You know how to contact him, for sure!

And finally, last but by no means least, and in fact, without taking anything away from the depths of misery the other two winners have subjected us to, the Grand Prize winner - the winner of the best Anti-Valentine category -

Joske for her Valentine Script Abuse!

All the worst things about Valentine's Day, rolled into one seemingly never-ending nightmare, executed with the push of one little button. Bravo and shame on you. It was like a morphine drip - the judges couldn't stop pushing the button.

For her prize, Joske will receive her choice of AV Bros Page Curl or Puzzle Pro plugins (fitting design options that can so easily be pushed "over the edge" for future Massacres!) Joske, they can be viewed at http://www.avbros.com/english/products.html - and then just drop alex@avbros.com a line, he knows to expect your note.

Congratulations to all the winners, and good luck living this one down!

Well, thanks very much. Normally, I'd pass an award on, but how can I
turn down one of Ron's mounted pictures? I couldn't conceive of
anything I would have enjoyed more! I'm already picking out a
location for it to be placed on display. Yes, the Fox sounds
absolutely great!

Thanks to all those who lost their appetites, and took a peek, only to
say 'There's something wrong with that guy!'

Congrats to all of the other winners, too. Do you really know that we
can now brag all year about being the worst of the worst? (This is a
award?)

Oh well, Congrats to Lis and Joske!

Oh the poor man... Does he know that on principle the only pages I
ever allow myself to curl are those in the books I read in bed?

Congratulations Lis and Ron, I am truly sorry we should meet under
such shameful circumstances :-)

I'll add that I saw nothing but horrible entries, so they were all
'good' though Lis's was beyond doubt the worst to bear of all :-)

They really design wonderful plugins. The interfaces are complex (which may
not be a benefit to some, but I think you'll like them) and incredibly
full-featured. I've never even scratched the surface of all they can do -
they are both "best of class."

Alex told me they've partnered with the Xara people and Page Curl 2.0 is
going to be included with Xara Xtreme, so if that's on your shopping list,
go for Puzzle Pro.

I should have put a smiley up there. Trust me, I will approach Alex
with respect, because that's what I have for anyone programming
plugins (and all else, for that matter).

St. Patrick's Day isn't far away. Maybe that guy who never knows to
come in out of the rain - Paddy O'Furniture I think he's called - will
drop by to encourage a new competition based on maximizing the number
of leprechauns in an image.

It's no use talking to me like that.

I can offer a stray cat though if you insist.

And although I have been so far away for so many years (just made a few

Gosh .... this is fun!

I know, I'm ever so proud of myself. I hope to contact the maker
tonight. It'll be something nice to download, I still haven't dared
to download the latest X patch :-)

Not possible, I don't do the twelve-step helping stuff... You have
to understand WHY you cannot ever do such a horrible animation
again, then WHY you felt compelled to do it in the first place. Once
you get to the bottom of that, it'll probably be a matter of hitting
a baseball bat on a pillow for a while so you get rid of the awful
thing in your childhood that made you stoop this low... and then for
a week or so you'll scream for Animation Shop because you want to do
more horrible stuff... but you won't have access to it. I expect
that the crying (mourning phase I of XVI) will start right after,
and the following food binge will be disgusting but short, but
then... you'll feel reborn. No more ugly stuff, but butterflies and
bunnies instead*.

There.

Joske :-))

*Just DON'T post them here

Well I did download the patch .... but haven't tried much ...... most of the
comments about it seem to be pretty positive...... So am keeping my fingers
crossed (which is probably why I have so much trouble doing things). ;)

Joske ----- I know I'll just post the teddy-bears! Truthfully as you can
tell
I have not any real experience with Animation Shop either ..... You and
Joelle for example are really clever with it!
I will promise to stay away from it for a while - at least until I get rid
of the image of my "massacre" flashing out of my head.

Well so that's why I am vertically challenged (5'2") ... the N. Mainers got
it all.

Cuz was speedy replying ..... yup .... got rid of the HCR number (you can
tell it has been a loooong time since I tried to contact her with
snail-mail) She says she lives on Old Alfred ........ .... ooops add Rd. to
the end of that - not far from Friendship Park...... Certainly not as
appealing as your Beaver Run ..... bet you are right that must have been a
highly prized item by guys!!

Hmm don't talk like a Mainer? Don't you get ostracized by the rest of the
locals? Gosh I can remember visiting as a kid and being so amused by the
accent..... I grew up in Michigan ... and of course the Mid West has No
accent. And of course we were able to travel so easily to another country
(Canada was just a tunnel or Bridge away)

Well didn't get my height from my dad or his sports abilities either (he
used to run cross country and skied on barrel boards etc. and tried to play
foot ball in HS at 118lbs (5'10 1/2") broke his shoulder and it came out
thru the skin .... he had a great scar! Guess my dad was less refined he
used to like his beer straight from the bottle.
