Certainly did nothing for my sanity :-)

As a true work of art, I'm sure it doesn't rank high... can't say I
really like it myself either :-) But it appeals to many brains in
spite of tastes, somehow.

Not my taste. Hope I'm not offending yours with saying that.

Glad you liked the modern dance performance. I think it's nice to
see 'modern western' interpreted by the east.

It sounds remarkably like what is done with Ten Holt's music. Was it
piano as well? Ten Holt's pieces (parts, loops) can be freely
rearranged by the pianists (two or four). Maybe it was Steve Reich
http://www.stevereich.com/ , though I don't think he did pieces for
solely piano. Or Philip Glass http://tinyurl.com/9tdau (who I find
very hard to like since that terribly fake and boring 'deep' movie
Koyaanisqatsi http://tinyurl.com/duhfg, he he).

It's proper. I can't think of another one than 'Dutch'.

Of course not. There's nothing about taste that could be right or wrong. I
just like his paintings because they're quirky, colorful, humorous.

It was solo piano and it was composed by a friend of my friend. They're
both Canadian. Definitely not Philip Glass. I saw a performance by his
group once. The words "fake" and "boring" are very appropriate. I've
listened a lot but haven't found anything there yet.

Ah, got it. I did ponder whether a friend wrote it or performed it.

I do so enjoy how you agree with my estimation of Glass' drive :-)
Often remarks like that (on films, too) will get you gasps of
indignation ('how can you say that, it's BEAUTIFUL!'). Your opinion
as someone knowledgeable in music is worth more to me :-)

I'm going to reply offline. I'm sure I've reached the end of the general
interest in this subject!
