It looks like it would be easy to turn the slime any color
depending upon what kind of 'soup' one wants to cook.

Totally by accident I came across some PSP tutorials and saw this
one:

http://developingwebs.net/paintshop/slime.php

It's very easy, just a rectangle, some ellipse shapes and two
lines,
and before you know it you have a nice jar of bright green slime.
I
did a quick cauldron and a lavalamp as well, not sure what else
to
use the slime stuff for but I think it's a nice effect :-)

Well... witches' soup, of course. Hence the cauldron (yes Alan, when
witches sneeze, they need more than a hanky) :-)

Maureen, someone/we here should make your granddaughter a better
lavalamp some time. With lots of hippie colors :-)

I think you did that pretty well for a first try at animating. Cool
colors :-)

One more rude comment like that from you, young man, and I will have
to cast a spell that turns your keyboard output into friendly
smileys :-)

Thanks, Joske. How could I have improved on it? I value your critique :)

I think it looks good as it is, bearing in mind the limits gif
animations are bound to have. Really.

And as you know, the more steps (frames, movements), the bigger the
filesize. Your animation is surprisingly small though, so a few more
frames wouldn't harm the filesize. If you would like the liquid to
move more fluidly, it means more steps, more stages in which the
fluid moves. The Onion Skin can be of help here, to see where you
place the next position of an object.

That filesize problem goes for detail too, unfortunately. The
smoother (anti-aliased) a moving object is, the more there is to
calculate with each move. So we could say that 'ooze' in the lamp
could be more oily (words?), but I don't know how much the filesize
would grow. I think gif animation is largely suggestion, not
realistic, so again, I mean it when I say your animation suggests a
lavalamp at work well.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll keep them in mind. And thank you again for
your honest opinion :)

Oh Alan... don't say I didn't warn you... and now the only way to
lift this spell will be for you to post a nice graphic *not*
