.....you can try helping the new users of PSP who are posting to the
old j a s c web forum. It would be a great way to help, meet new
users, and perhaps direct them to the Corel groups. Just a
thought.

Is the newsreader interface back up? Can't do web interfaces for ng's. Just don't have the time/patience and strength
in my right hand to click through all the levels of the web UI.

I doubt it, Carl. I really can't see why they'd put all of the
work into getting it running correctly when they have this forum.
I could be wrong though. Personally, I can't stand using the web
forum. Joe, a pointer to this group would be a good idea. If
you regularly read the web forum, have you considered maybe
posting the info once a week or maybe adding it to your sig?

Fred regularly points users of the web forum to this one, as well
as users of the c.g.a.p-s-p group, while I often forget if I'm
able to reply to a question. I stopped doing it some time ago
when the censor used to vet posts with links to Corel. They
always show up later, but the delay annoyed me. Perhaps they've
not being vetted anymore, so I'll have to try again!

fooled by using tinyurl.

That's also one of the reasons that going to the old forum
annoyed me. Not to mention that it was down more than it was up
;-)

Actually, the old NNTP forum was always down more than the web
forum. Since Corel restored the web forum, I've never seen it go
down.

Thanks Fred. About a half hour ago I actually used tinyurl and
posted a link to the newsgroup page.

I sympathise with what you are trying to do but shouldn't the ball be in
Corels court? If they want to point new users to the web forums they should
at least have CTechs there to look after them, not expect experienced users
to trawl around with a butterfly net looking for them.

Hi Ken,

I was just replying to the fact that several posters bemoaned the
fact that there was no activity in the Graphics group here. If
by "activity" people mean "stuff to look at", then they were
certainly correct. But if they mean "people to help", then I was
simply pointing out to them where those people are if they wish
to put in the effort to go there. No obligation to do so, of
course, just advising where the newbies were in case the
experienced contributors here wanted to contribute to the
newbies.

Regards,

JoeB

Hello Joe. I think this is something you might try discussing with
Gage and Travis. To my understanding, they are the main PSP group
moderators, and in charge of the webforums. Maybe they can post a
link to these nntp groups on a regular basis, maybe they can
persuade Corel to let the webbased forums go, or something.

In any case I don't feel responsible for the confusion, and I don't
think you should either. We don't even have C-Tech in our signature,
but as I gather most C-Techs aren't all that enthusiastic about
helping out on the forums either. Those slow and hard to surf forums
*are* a bother, more so when each time you have to log in twice as I
have to. It's something that needs a structural solution you nor I
can provide.

What annoys me the most is the snail's pace. Even on DSL, it
takes forever to open each link. I still check it out once or
twice daily to see if there are any questions I can answer, but
it is truly a pain.

I did notice someone's very clever idea of including links in a
screenshot with arrows pointing to where they should click. That
was really kewl.
