In older versions of PSP I could readily set the colour of text. Now, in
version 9, I get text with a coloured outline but I cannot find how to set
the fill colour. Thanks for any advice.

The background color you have set in the materials palette will
be the fill color. If your text is vector, just right click on
the text layer and select properties to change it.
