Christel,
Neither were done recently but as I recall they were both done with a
combination of effects and layer blends. I see several third party filters
used (Toadies, Xenofex, Rosenman, Flood) along with several of the native
filters (warp, kaleidoscope etc...) /layer blernds (mainly difference) in
PSP7.
