Author How to copy irregular selection from one pic to the other in exact x y location?

Can someone tell me how to make a selection in one picture with the free
hand or magic wand and then place it in another picture in the exact same
x,y position without zooming in and trying to set it there manually?
I was told photoshop does it by dragging the selection from one picture to
the other while holding down the control key.
I am sure that PSP 8 must be able to do that too.
I can do it with the rectangle selection tool as it has the custom selection
option.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Please see my reply to your identical post in the PSP 8 group. You
do not need to duplicate your messages.
