This came out really good, Pegs, and it brought back memories. I
don't think it's goofy :-D

It's adorable, Pegs. Don't know where I've been. I didn't have this in my
elementary school or even in my children's.

Cute Pegs. I used to work in a Kindergarten class, we made these every year.

I taught kindergarten for about 5 years and we made them, too.:-) We would
also trace the kids hands and use them as the feathers on the big turkey on
the bulletin board.:-)

Pegs, I would appreciate if you took a closer look at this group
before drawing conclusions on who is who and creates what with which
intention. You might be surprised about the history and diversity in
the creations and characters :-)

And please do not confuse me with killfiling nobility who believe
genes give people advantages over others.

Without speaking for all the regulars here, I would say there is
room for all tastes and talents. Personally I like 'goofy' too, but
I wouldn't say everything simplistic and easy is 'goofy' by
default - some of it is plain lazy. The same thing can go for the
'solemn' works.

I like to see people's heart or efforts in their posted works,
whether it's works in progress (Ron's lady would be an example),
having abundant fun with tubes, visibly learning techniques, or
downright art. So to me, joy or some other fascination that makes
people create as they do, and post the result, is the main thing
here.

You should look up the Valentine's Day Massacre. It helps to wear
sunglasses when you do... although a set of welder's goggles would be
better.

It usually takes a full year for that to wear off.

Thanks, Michelle! It was a lot of fun to do, but it was actually a bit
difficult to get that 'kindergarten' look. Now if I had drawn it, it would
have that look no problem. :-P

Thanks, Jeanne! I'm sorry I was presuptuous! When I sent out this greeting

OOPS! Sorry, Joëlle! I was on my way to bed when I posted, & confused you &
Joske. :-O

Glad ya like! :D I agree goofy is good. I'd love to do 'serious' art, but I
always seem to add something ridiculous, because I just can't keep the tone
(I have a hard time keeping a straight face, too).

First, let me apologize for confusing your name & Joëlle's. I do know the
difference between the two of you.

Second, let me apologize for obviously offending you. It's ironic, because I
was apologizing in advance for posting something so mundane here.

I've been following these Jasc/Corel groups at least since the v8 Beta
tests, so I think that gives me a pretty good handle on how things are done
here & the people who post here. Yes, most of the things posted in this
graphics group are serious art or manipulations to look serious. It's
rather intimidating to someone who sees things sideways & can't draw to save
her life. A good chunk of the people here seem to be professionals & I'm
still doing basic stuff.

I don't want to horn in here, since this is an established group with
'regular' members. However, I was going through some old files the other day
& came across this. I really liked the way it turned out & so screwed up my
courage to post it, hoping someone would get a kick out of it.

I don't really know what you mean by the following "And please do not
confuse me with killfiling nobility who believe
> genes give people advantages over others." , but my guess is either that

others have killfiled me or that you are going to. Please correct me if I'm
wrong.

Again, I am sorry to have offended you.

Hey, Ron!

Actually, I did see the VDM & thought it was a hoot! It's why I participated
in the Hallowe'en Deathmatch - I like having fun with my PSP. I just get the
sense here that most 'regulars' here are serious artists & may cringe at my
simple little graphics.

Depends on time and place I guess. My early years were spent in Iowa
and that was early '30s. My kids were young in the 50s in Texas. There
was a world war and quite a few states between and I didn't see many
similarities!

I'm jumping in on Ron's post to express my humble opinion that there is
an infinite diversity of types of art and types of artists here. Many
(most??) who frequent this group are rugged individualists and to make
any kind of a blanket statement would be off the mark. I enjoy and
learn things from the newbies and the professionals and all inbetween.
Keep on doing what you're doing.

Very few people here, in my experience, have a need to killfile and
thus display rudeness by flaunting which fellow PSP'ers they ignore.

So I was referring to the person with whom you confused me. I do
believe I am entitled to some comments when you both confuse me with
a killfiler and mention an image of mine calling it 'solemn' :-)

Whew, that's finished! You use English so well that one would never
guess that you're not a native speaker. You did say that you struggle
with it. We all need to give each other a big benefit of the doubt.
There's the language problem, PMS, not enough coffee, too much coffee,
tension at work, neighbor's cat howling all night.....

Or maybe someone just pushes the wrong button. Happens to all of us.

We're all wonderful people here. Maybe a bit quirky on rare occasions.

Oh dear, is this you in need of a pick-me-up?
Hehe, some things can have that effect, we've all been there!
A sense of humour cures all.
Good one Pegs.

I've been known to catch it from a handsome man.

LOL! Isn't the vapors a southern thing? I'm too young to know
these things, of course ::::pouffing hair:::: ;-))

Thanks, Joëlle. :-D

Actually, I nearly sent myself into a decline (another "Southernism") trying
to make this. I thought I had a tube of a Victorian woman reclining, but no.
Could I find one (or at least a suitable photo)? No. I ended up using a
photo of a play (with a bunch of people around the stricken woman) & had to
do some fancy erasing, cloning & placement of objects to cover up the
shortcomings, lol. It's also why it's blurry - I didn't want anything too
recognizable.

Ah, well. It was fun at the end & it's also fun to find out others know what
'the vapors' are. It's something our grandmothers told us about (snicker).
