These all all great, Joske. Looks like you had a great time
playing. :)

Fun images Joske.
I especially liked the ones that give the illusion of being leaded glass.

Like the beautiful jewel colours you have done here Joske. Didn't realise
that we could get colours like that with the halftone. Think I must have
been stuck on the greyscale or had not done enough experimenting. The glass
brick effect looks great...Pat

I thought this was a great deal of fun and quite unexpected. I for
one would like a little more signposting of the steps you used to
make the variations.

These are all fantastic, Joske. I love colors and you used them
beautifully. The first one reminds me of designs on expensive
scarves I've seen at the store. Thanks for sharing these. :-)

Always a pleasure to surprise a rutabaga. Did you know that the
Halftone Effect was introduced into PSP by a turnip? It's true! This
was a very clever turnip of course, and when he presented it to his
bosses to have it implemented they said 'oh no, not another toy, is
it', so he replied 'no no, this is a serious photo effect'. That was
the clever part, you see. Because the Halftone Effect IS a
photography concept, but it is also one of the greatest graphic
bases in disguise :-)

The steps... it should be easy for you to recognize most of the
effects. They're all PSP native. The Halftone is most visible in
image 1a, and the rest is other effects and layer modes on top... so
don't get me wrong that it was Halftone alone that produced these
outcomes.

Nice to see you here AuntySpam. That is, if the server doesn't fool
me, I don't see you stop by here a lot :-)

I tried a few things to make a photo shine through, like with glass,
but kept finding the results rather unconvincing. They're best off
as standalone abstracts :-)

Thanks Barbara. Actually, it was hard to silence the perfectionist
and the artist in myself, and just combine effects :-) I'm lacking
concentration at the moment, but they still kept trying to convince
me I should manually tweak and paint and nudge and... but I won :-)

Believe me, it isn't difficult :-)

No I didn't know. My main problem with turnips is that people keep
labeling rutabagas as turnips, when in fact we 'bagas are quite
distinct and - at the very worst - are swedes, not turnips :-)

I should have looked more carefully at your settings. I see the
secret is pick a large Size setting. For me it's counterintuitive
since when I use the filter in general I am after small patterns
to give a halftone impression while preserving all the detail in
the original photo. You need neither for abstract art. See attached.

I look and read Joske, just don't have much time for writing, at least until
I get my mom settled in a place where she can be cared for 24 hours a day.

I'm sorry to hear that you're burdened this way, and I hope you will
find a warm and caring place soon. Not that it helps much, but
things aren't as we'd wish them to be here either. I remember now,
an American internet friend of mine took a long time finding a good
place for her dad... it seems the quality of those places varies a
lot. At one point she had to temporarily take him in again herself
(she is aged too), because the care wasn't good. I learned from her
that it's wise to check in on your parent a lot until you feel
comfortable about the place.

Good luck, Aunty.

I like the results. You seem to be cheating or at least misleading a little
though. Halftone can't produce wavy lines from one pass over a solid gray
with those settings. Either you blocked out the source image or there's
more to it that you aren't showing.

I blocked the source. Nice to see you here, Gary.

:) I watch but I don't have much time to play. Were the squares done with
halftone as well? Seems like they could be.

I like vakjes1d1_jacb the best. It's got a nice watercolor feel to it.

The squares weren't but could almost have been done by Halftone.
Also, the biggest 'block' effect it can do isn't quite this size, I
think.

Now that you mention 'play', Gary, I realize most of the play I have
ever seen from you were scripts... lovely and useful things for
others to use. If ever you find the time, I'd enjoy seeing a wild
creation by you done with a script packed with random colorful
effects :-)

Thanks! I didn't save the random seed though. :) My algorithm doesn't
scale up too well at the moment either. Maybe someday. :)

Thanks. :) Yes, I'm quite tired of rain and more is on the way.

Oops. :) My problem is that I usually save over a Quickscript that I later
wished I'd saved. I could fix that with a script of course but I keep
thinking next time I'll remember to be careful. :)
