Okay, you twisted my arm, I'll tell I'll tell. Stop that, you're hurting
me!

That would be the first known photo of .... of.... the person who is the
child of my child.

But oh it gets better.

Stop, stop, you're hurting me, quit it will
ya??????????????????????????????????????????

We saw this photo last weekend. This morning, at 4 a.m. John's son Peter
calls me from Sydney - "Good morning, sorry to wake you, you're gonna be a
G-word!" (Let's get back to that issue, shall we?) To which I replied, "I
know that, how did you know?" He said, "well, Anne told me first, of
course."

I said, "Britt told Anne she's gonna have a baby?"
"No, Anne told me she's gonna have a baby, and now I'm telling you."
"But I already knew she was having a baby, how did Anne find out?"
"The doctor told her, plus she saw the test."
"HOW did she see the test, and how in the world did she see the doctor?"
"Sally, we HAVE those things in Australia! By the way, how did YOU know
she's having a baby?"
"She told me, and I saw pictures."
"No she didn't, she's standing right here and she says she didn't tell you
yet!"
"She's standing right there? How did she get in Australia??????????"
"Well, she's been here since we finished our holiday in the US."
"Baloney, Pete, she was just here this weekend!"
"Anne was not there this weekend, you're barmy!"
"No, Britt was here this weekend."
"Right, so what are we talking about????"
"Britt's pregnant."
"No, Anne's pregnant."
"NO, Britt's pregnant, get with the program, Pete, it's 4 a.m."
"Britt's pregnant?"
"Yes, you said you knew that!"
"No, I said I knew Anne's pregnant!"
"Anne's pregnant?"
"YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

silence

"John, Anne's pregnant, too."
"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"

silence

"Congratulations, Pete, your father is delighted, ecstatic, speechless with
joy. Call me tonight, will you?"

Sally

p.s. Don't forget, I am under no circumstances EVER any variation of the
G-word. My descendants have been issued strict instructions that the G-word
in conjunction with my persona best not cross anyone's lips. Acceptable
substitutes are FiFi, GiGi and Your Majesty.

p.p.s. This titular restriction does not preclude me from purchasing
prodigious amounts of tiny person accoutrements, however. In fact, it's
likely to precipitate and encourage it.

OK, I cave--- We can call it "Trick or Treat" if you guys prefer!!

Besides, I am wondering if d e a t h m a t c h might be the word
that is tripping the censor bot. I still can't get all the rules to print
in all the groups. (Travis, if you're watching, what's the deal?)

And FiFi....having very recently become a G-word myself,

See the dolls? You can buy matching dresses for the kid and doll.

Yep, American Girl dolls have been doing the same for years. We have
several. Probably time to dig them out again, soon.

You have daughters. Olivia is the first female child born in my family in
more
than 30 years. As much as I adore my sons and Brendan, I never got to do the
dolls or princess-pretty thing....til now.

It is kinda fun.... :-)

Hi Sally !

CONGRATULATIONS x 2 !!!!!!!

So are their due dates close together ? Who will beat who to deliver first
??? <G>

What a great story -- I loved it !!! And just think of the wonderful
scrapbooking subjects !!!!

Your story kind of makes me think of my sister and my cousin.

My mom and my aunt both got pregnant very close together. They were due
only two weeks apart from each other. My cousin ended up early and my
sister ended up late -- they are actually about three and a half weeks
apart. When they were babies, my mom and aunt would go out with them in the
strollers -- and everyone would ask, "Oh, are they twins ??" And my mom and
my aunt would reply, "No, but their fathers are !" It would take a second
before people would get it.

Congrats -- enjoy -- keep us posted -- BTW, my mom hates the G word too ---
she is an "Amma" and loves it !

:o)

One is April 25 and the other is May 30. Should have just enough time to
recover from one before the next one arrives.

Of course, Anne is in Sydney, and it's not likely we'll be there for the
birth, but hopefully we can see them in the fall.

Well, I must admit that all small people in my family, including myself, are
born uncommonly handsome (even if we don't maintain it!) When Emilie was 3
months old, I had 17 y/o boys telling me she was a stunner (and males of any
age usually don't even notice what gender babies are, much less what they
actually LOOK like.)

However, I'll make sure to get a few messy poo-poo shots just for you.
Maybe some red-faced angry screamers. I didn't really have any of those,
but we might get one, who knows? I only contributed 25% of the DNA. (And
zero DNA in Pete's baby's case, I'm a Step-FiFi.)

I don't see Anne wanting a Webcam up... well... you know. My son George
would surely do it for her, if Pete didn't chase him out of the delivery
room, but I doubt Anne would put up with it.

You never know, though. She got a cellphone with camera in it, and the next
thing you know, she's got a shot of Pete caught by surprise in the bathroom
(think LIBRARY) as her wallpaper. What a hoot.

Pretty close. I'll be around for that one, for sure.

There must be a story here. Brand-new but she's not a baby. Perhaps
adopted?

My mother was not fond of the g-word, and could not settle on anything
to suit her when my first son was born. She was only 40 and was quite
unsettled with the usual g-words.

He settled that when he got to be about 1 1/2 and just put the g-word in
front of her name, Mavor. (pronounced may-ver) Everyone loved it and
she actually became quite fond of being called GrandMavor.

Yes, as are about half the kids in my family for three generations now.
On both my mother's and father's side. We're so used to it that we
really don't even think about it unless someone asks.

Stella and my grandaughter Olivia have exactly the same birthday,
(one year apart) and arrived in our lives within days of each other--
We met one in a hospital, and another in an airport, and within
seconds both were lodged tightly in our hearts.

After 30 years of nothing but boys, we've all gone a little bonkers
with the pink and frills, though. Even Brendan-- who calls Olivia
"his" baby-- is completely smitten with both girls.

I adore them all... My sons are the best thing that ever happened to me.
They are
fantastic men-- I would like them even if they weren't mine. And the little
ones...
Brendan and Olivia are a complete kick.

It's so much fun to see my kids with their kids.... They're good dads, both
of them.

I'm glad I asked. This is a heartwarming tribute to family and what could
be as important? When I was having children, adoption was not very common.
Adopted children were "different." So were children with only one parent.
Now that attitude is hard to imagine. We even have two bi-racial children
in our family. They're adorable. You'll have to keep up with the multitude
of pink, frilly garments. My grand-daughter-in-law has discovered some
clothing that her baby outgrew before he ever wore them!

Here's something for the Gs & GGs & all those with more love than sense &
the deep pockets to indulge with. There was a story about this company in
the Houaton Chronicle about a month ago & I had to look them up. I was
nevery a "frilly froo-froo" little girl, but I definitely would have loved
this (even now!) :

If $47,000.00 is a wee bit much for a bed, check out the rest of the fantasy
collection: http://www.poshtots.com/catalog/135...roduct_list.asp The
Fairytale Bed & Gingerbread Cottage can each be had for under $10,000.
("Yeah, right" echoing in my head right now, lol).

Seriously, I've enjoyed reading the family stories & seeing the pix. Thanks.

Michael just built Brendan a bed that looks like this one....
http://www.acustomcreation.net/boat-bed.jpg
Except his "deck fittings" are mahogany and brass
and the sides are burgundy and gold.....
Thr drawer underneath is a trundle, and the
bow opens up to be a toy box.

It's actually pretty cool.....I was rather impressed.

I'd be impressed, too! And I'll bet it didn't cost $47,000.00. ;-)

It sounds wonderful - a little boy's dream.

Oh, Sally, congratulations on soon becoming a GRANDMOTHER!! You
will love being called a grandmother - just wait and see. I was out
of town so just saw this thread. I'm confused with your story but
there must be two new babies waiting to be born into your family.
One of your husband's children and one of yours?

Wonderful, wonderful and pictures galore to be taken!!

Yes, and I'm buying everything in twos. I never wanted to know the gender
of my own children till they appeared (I love surprises!) but with these
little critters, I find myself, once a day or more, pondering "pink or
blue?" Perhaps it's all that disposable income we have now that the
critters aren't actually OURS... or at least their bills aren't.

I've given two sets of parents entire lists of photos to be taken. I've
already set up two identical scrapbooks, with the headings all planned. I
do hope the 'rents stay with the program I've established.
