PainShop Pro 9 - Artistic Effect Stopped working

Artistic Effect Stopped working

I tried to apply Effects->Artistic-> Contours to an image and the two
preview windows had only a mis-sized greay image, and clicking OK would
leave my image unchanged.

I tried several effects not in the Artisic category, and they seem to be
working.

Any suggestions?

Also, I have another copy of PSP on another computer. Can I copy some
files from that computer to correct this problem ??

The usual source of confusion is having an unnoticed selection
in the image, having the active layer not be the one you think
it is (e.g. one that has no image data), or trying to apply
raster effects to vector layers or (sometimes) adjustment layers.

This won't correct the problem. Try everything on another image
before you do anything else. Then, if things still don't work,
go to File > Preferences > Reset Preferences and reset everything.
