I found the following tutorial for Photoshop
http://photoshopcontest.com/tutoria...ment-water.html
to insert a lake and create a reflection.
I was going to try create this in PSP 9.
Before I do this, first I was curious if anyone knows of analagous tutorials
that already exist for PSP ?
If not, then I noted that in PS, displacement maps use two channels.
It seems then to create the same effect in PSP 9 I will somehow have to use
two separate displacement maps.
Any other suggestions before I start are appreciated.
If I'm successful, I will put together a tutorial and make it available.

The writer used Channels to creat his single map, not 2 displacment maps.

No, you won't. The PS Displace filter is less versatile than
the PSP Displacement Map filter. In PS the magnitude of
displacement is set by one of the channels and the direction
is set by the relative values of the remaining two. In PSP
you can just dial up the direction you want in the filter so
you can use a greyscale displacement map if you want. The
tutorial is a little more complicated than it would need to
be in PSP.

I don't see why you should fail.
