*.pdf file extensions causing problems browsing

Hi,
I'm using PSP 9 and have the following problem with Adobe Acrobat files
(*.pdf):
If I try to browse a folder that contains a *.pdf file, the file is SO
large, that PSP 9 hangs.
I don't even want PSP 9 trying to browse pdfs!
I looked under the FILE FORMAT ASSOCIATIONS in the preferences menu,
thinking I would just turn off pdfs.
But... couldn't find them in the list. Not sure why PSP 9 would want to
browse a pdf anyway....?
Can you tell me what to do? For the time being, I move the pdf out of the
folder, so at least my PSP 9 won't hang...
Thanks in advance!

I don't think it hangs. It will eventually read its way through to
the end of the file and continue. Patience is needed. It's silly
that it doesn't just read the first page, which would be enough to
create a thumbnail.

Then tell it not to do that :)

That simply determines whether a PDF will open in PSP is you double
click on it in Windows Explorer. Instead, you need to change a
Browser setting. Go to File > Preferences > General Program
Preferences > Browser tab. Click the "File Format Exclusions" button
and then put a checkmark next to Portable Document File (PDF).

Perhaps because it can open the pages of a PDF file as images.

See above. Watch out for video files too.
