Pen setup questions

I can't seem to get the wacom pen pressures to work as it does in other
programs with PSP9. Any tips or settings that will give for example a size
from say 1 pixel up based on how hard one presses the pen. It works fine in
Corel Draw but not in PSP9.

I'm working with that Trev with no luck on getting the smooth sizing (so far
that is all I'm messing with) change. To further explain what I'm looking
for is when pressing very lightly say with the pen size set to 1 I should
get a single pixel line. Now as I press harder the line should get wider. It
doesn't seem to do this very smoothly as it does with other programs such as
Draw and Photoshop. Anyone have a clue what the numbers do to the right of
the *Pressure settings and can we set this as a default when using the
brushes. I've noticed that I have to constantly reset these every time I
change palates or brushes.

Where are your Hardness/Steps settings? Too soft, or too many
steps, can impact negatively on the smaller brushes. Kind of
seems like nothing is happening, or feels squirrelly.

Actually Porter I've always set the steps to no more than 5 for anything
other than Tubes. When I used 7 and 8 I usually set the step rate to 1.

Yeah okay, what about the Hardness? PSP9 brushes are far softer
than earlier versions. A PSP9 at 50 is equal to the earlier
versions at a full 100. Which means, the lowest hardness on a
smaller brush just might get pretty invisible PDQ.
An area I've had to watch myself carefully whenever setting up
PSP with Intuos in that Wacom software:
Am I even configuring my pen at all? Or, am I accidentally
setting it to that skanky mouse nobody in their right minds even
wants anyways? I go sailing along adding PSP to Wacom's
*applications list --> then discover later my darned pen wasn't
actually highlighted during the process, thus didn't set. Boo.
Okay, so I kick myself hard, go back in there and do it over
again. Perhaps even two or three more times. Usually cursing
throughout, since absolutely none of that process has ever felt
the least bit intuitive to this desk.
*BTW, each newer version needs to be added to that applications
list. When we see the Jasc PSP icon there? It's best to
confirm that it represents version 9, and not PSP8 leftover from
earlier happier days. I once blew that one --> okay twice -->
well maybe three times, but no more than four. Definitely no
more than five. :)
Good luck.

Thanks Porter for the suggestions, I'll give them a try. I have only PSP 9
installed now on my system (never did like 2 versions on a system at once).
It is showing up fine in the Wacom interface and works great there. Oh well
I'll just play with it some more but was hoping at least the pen would work
as good as in earlier versions if not as good as Painter.
