How to make a copy a website ?
My sister has a database driven website that she would like to bring
down. But she wants to keep a copy of it in case she decides to later
host it back up again.
The website uses PHP, mysql etc.
She has an HP Windows XP Intel HT PC with CD /DVD reader and writer.
She was wondering how she could make a copy of it ?
Any suggestions ?
We are both Non -technical !!
thanks
lisa

It's non-trivial to ftp the PHP files and ftp the database extract.
You'll need shell access to do this or phpMyAdmin setup on the remote
system.
Since you're non-technical, it's probably better to hire a college
student (or one of your kids) to do this for you.

I'd suggest getting whoever wrote the site to give you a
copy of the "source code", and asking them to make you a
backup of the database.
It's a technical job that you want done. You will need
to hire someone technical, or become slightly technical
yourself.
It might be cheaper to pay for continued hosting, but use
the administrative interface to deactivate the site?
You could make a static copy of the site with tools like
winhttrack, but that would not help you get the dynamic
site back up again.
