Author Shared windows hosting with more than one FTP login?

Most of the companies that offer shared windows hosting (godaddy, brinkster,
etc) allow only one ftp login. Does anyone know any hosting companies that
offer more than one ftp login for their Windows plans?

Thanks.

Not really. You buy one account, you get one ftp username for it.
Plain and simple. You want multiple ftp usernames, buy multiple
accounts on a shared host.

Or setup and run your own server in a colocated facility.

Well actually, they offer multiple FTP logins for their Linux hosting. Is
there techincal reason for not doing the same for Windows?

I'm not a windows person, so take what I say with several Kg of NaCl.

In Unix/Linux ftp authentication, you can have multiple accounts in the
password file which have the same UID (User ID) and point to the same
directory. Internally, all processes that run on the system have a UID
which identifies it. It's usually a Bad Idea(tm) to have multiple
accounts with the same UID, but it can be done easily.

In Windows, I don't think you can create multiple accounts that have the
same numeric ID as there's no facility to input it or change it. I
think it's generated automatically when the account is created. Unless
there's some sort of way to "alias" one account to another, I don't know
enough about Windows admin (thank god) to do it. My guess is the
windows admins of the shared hosting facilities haven't figured out how
to get around this or there hasn't been a need to do it. If the Windows
ftp server used it's own authentication database, you could do this, but
that may not be the case with your shared windows host.

If you want this, you'll have to go with a Linux solution or pay for an
extra account.

Dreamhost allows a large number of usernames per account, and an
unlimited number of domains and subdomains.

(and I managed to refrain from embedding a referral commission code in
that link... how non-spammy can I get?)
