Author Newbie needs help - trying to save a gif or jpg....

I am receiving the message" Because of the limitations of specified file
format (and possibly the save options you've selected) the saved file will
be limited to a merged image."

All I am trying to do is to take a .gif that I already edited and add text
to it and save and each time I do this, I am getting this message. I use
using PSP 10

Need some advice please!

Believe the message. Your editing has created a new layer, probably
when you added the text. When you save the file in PspImage format,
the layers remain intact and you can change things, for example the
text, independently. The GIF and JPG formats, however, do not
support layers, so PSP writes the image as a single merged layer to
the file.

For more, read Help > Index, Layers, merging.
