Sorry to raise this old chestnut again, but I was cruising through some old
Google Group posts and found this response to an early (but very much still
of interest) query I posted to this group in December last year.
My original query:
"The standard PSP8 mesh warp tool seems to have a minimum mesh size of
about
18 pixels when the mesh sliders are set to their 'maximum' value (using a
typical 800 x 600 image as an example).
I fully understand that this is image size dependant, but I am looking for a
mesh that remains constant on the screen (ie, as you zoom into an image, the
mesh remains the same size on the screen thus allowing a finer wrap mesh
grid.
Does anyone know of a plug-in or script that will provide a higher
'resolution' mesh - say two or three times the present level?
I believe I *could* either resize my image, or use the warp brush but I
would prefer to do the changes with a grid on the original image if
possible. "
I seem to have missed the following reply from DJ Johnson at the time:
"If you insist on using the less functional PSP, then how about
floating a small selection of the area you want to work on as a new
layer, and just distorting that smaller region so your grid is
smaller? Work on your image in a piece-meal fashion. When using less
adequate programs like PSP, you have to find work-arounds, often. "
However,I have just tried the poster's suggestion (using PSP9 now) and
couldn't see any benefits - the grid size, as far as I can see, isn't in any
way influenced by the size of a selection.
Perhaps I misunderstood the poster's suggestion or perhaps I am doing it
incorrectly? Any one have any experience/thoughts?
TIA
