Have a medieval looking picture frame?
|
|
|
| Hi,
I'm doing a digital slide show for my hiking club of photos I took along the
ancient pilgrim's route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. I've been
looking for a PSP or Corel picture frame with a medieval or Gothic look that
I can use in PSP 9 or 11, or Corel Photo Album. To place it in time, the
pilgrimages started in about 830 AD, and the cathedral there was built in
the 12th Century. I don't have the PSP skills to make a frame design from
scratch.
I'm thinking of a distressed looking wood, perhaps with a carved design.
The symbol for Santiago is a scallop shell, which would be a great design
motif.
If you have a frame or know where I can find one that might be suitable,
please let me know either through the group or directly. I would be very
appreciative for any help you can provide.
Thank you.

Have you Googled? Do a search for PSP (Paint Shop Pro) picture
frames, and similar searches. You might also try medieval picture
frames or even medieval or gothic. Some of the sites which crop up
under goth/gothic may already have what you seek.

| Thanks for your suggestions, Spike. I searched the frames available on
various PSP tutorial sites as well as Corel's sites, and didn't turn up
anything that worked. By the way, some of the links to resources that Corel
lists are dead.
For the moment, I'm thinking of using the "carved mahogany" frame from
PaintShop Photo Album v. 4, and adding a layer so I can apply a little
graphic I have of a bronze scallop shell (the symbol of Santiago) at the
corners of the frame.
I'm sure my audience probably won't notice, but I want everything to look
good in my presentation.

I put some as jpg's on comp-graphics, psp is too large, but you can
promote them to layer, delete the center to transparent, then save as
pfr or psp or whatever you want.. None are as old as you want, because
they don't exist. Some of mine may go back to 15century, but if you
want something as old as you say yu want, learn how to use psp and
make em'

| Thank you, Greg. I very much appreciate your help and good taste in the
selection of frames. I especially like the simplicity of the one listed as
Rossetti_Prosperine.
I took a look at your web site, and enjoyed seeing your work. I got a kick
out of the Ferrari Testa Rossa.
One of the reasons I use PSP is the community of helpful people around it.
Thanks again.

There's a key to finding frames. Long ago I'd look around like the
rest of psp'ers do, to what others had made or useing a plugin to make
some, but they all had a made in digi phonyness to them, and while
always looking at fine art for ideas, I discoverd a wealth of real
frames, like you could visit the Lourve and take what they have to
offer from Manet, Rembrandt, or whoever. That's how I got my
collection.
