Author Color variations in scanned slides

I have scanned slides successfully using a Canon 8400F scanner. In
both preview and scanned copy the color and shading is accurate on
left side, there is a dark band down the center, and the shading on
the right side is dark. What is the solution?

Hmmm... That does not sound like success to me. Without more
information, I'd guess optical or mechanical trouble in the scanner,
certainly nothing in Paint Shop Pro. Have you tried asking at
comp.periphs.scanners?
