Paint Shop Pro support - which version to buy

which version to buy

I am fixing to buy a newer version of psp but I am not educated in which
versions have bugs and what new features later versions have.

I am running 4.14 and have no idea what has changed. I believe corel bought
it but I don't know if it is better or worse. Should I just keep the
version I have?

I would like a dodge and burn feature but don't know if it is even
available.

Any education would be appreciated.

I started with 7 and that had dodge and burn.
From 8 the interface changed dramatically because of the implantation of
scripts. Thats macros in some other languages. Well nothing is bug free. Its
just if or how it affects your way of working.
If your going to change its also a matter of what's available. The Current
Paint Shop Pro (photo) X2 Has some bugs but not that dramatic and as its new
They may get fixed with a patch. I am happy using it and have little problem
I did not buy X1 and its not a lot different from that which was not a lot
different from X. I think the Flag marker is psp 9 that had the greatest
innovations since the big change with 8. But like I say Finding a legal copy
maybe hard so Download the trial of X2 from corel and be amazed at what is
there now. Dodge and burn is in the form of layers or a brush with controls
that can limit its application to highlight's, midrange, shadows or none
along with all the brush options on which, You have a lot to learn.

I'm using PSP 7.04. Just ordered PSP 9.0 from a vendor via Amazon. It's a
cd only and may have been used. They claim it's legal and can be
registered. $9.95 + $3.95 postage. Can upgrade to 9.01 on line.
Lot's of these on ebay if you like dealing with ebay. I've always had good
luck with Amazon and don't think they would engage in questionable
practices.

I've now received, installed, registered and updated to 9.011. It has
rather more than 7.04 especially things I really like, smart cropping,
editable selections, quick fixes (you may or may not like), scripts I may
never use and other stuff. The palette layout has changed, not sure if for
the better. I miss 'O' for tool options, 'L' for layer, they now use
function keys. On the whole it seems like a worthwhile upgrade. At $14 how
can you go wrong. Dave Cohen

Good for you, I hope you get some good use out of it. :-)

Though I have a number of different version installed, including X2.01 I'm
still *always* reverting back to version 9.01 to do any serious work.

I'm not quite sure why, I think it's probably the crap Organizer/browser,
but X2 just seems to get in the way of productivity, and I issue an
expletive or two, then go back to 9.01.
