I've been using PSPX for sometime now with no problems.
I just downloaded PSP X1 Trial Version. Before installing I removed the old
version, disabled nortons and adaware and updated my Nvidia 6800 driver.
Seemed to install fine but seems to hang when I try using the 'File' option
on the menu bar.
Anyone having similar problems? What to do, forget about it and reinstall
VersionX?

It could be the new Nvidia driver in any event, depending on the
update you installed, and one way to check this is to turn the
acceleration down to zero. That is only needed for stuff like
gaming anyway.

Otherwise, the uninstall/reinstall would likely be a good start.
You don't, however, have to uninstall previous versions to
install new ones so I'm not sure why you did that.

You DO, however, have to create a folder in your My Documents
folder named something like My PSP XI files, and when doing the
installation of v.XI make sure to find and click on the Advanced
button on one of the install dialogue boxes and change the
default directory for resources you create yourself to the new
folder you created. Otherwise the installation will default to
your existing My PSP Files folder under my documents. You should
also UNCHECK the box that appears somewhere during the
installation to install the Yahoo toolbar, otherwise it will be
installed by default.

When you sign up to download the trial version Corel sends you a
trial key by email. When you install the trial, a smart move is
to tell your firewall to stop all internet activity so that PSP
doesn't call home. It will install fine as long as you enter the
key sent to you by Corel's email.

And first, you should subscribe to the cnews.corel.com news
server and the Paint Shop Pro X and Paint Shop Pro XI groups
where there is much discussion about the new version. It will
then be up to you to determine whether you want to try the trial
of XI or not.
