Author Problem accessing drive with PSP

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

If I access a file with PSP, then later delete the folder where that file
was, later I cannot access the drive where that folder was located.

Easiest is to give an example...
On drive e, there is a folder called e:\test with some JPG files
I open PSP and access one of these files, then close PSP.
Then I delete the folder e:\test

Now I open PSP again and try to open a JPG file in another folder on drive
e: (e:\old), and PSP won't recognize drive e: Error: Drive e cannot be
selected right now, try again.

The only 2 ways I have been able to get around this was to either re-create
the deleted folder(s) or to reboot the PC.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fred

It seems that PSP is trying to make things easier for you by
opening the last place on the drive that you accessed. I
don't know if you can change that in Preferences. But you
could avoid it by accessing another part of the drive with
PSP and then deleting the unwanted folder.

I had a similar problem with PS Photo Album, and I found no
other way to solve the problem than completely uninstalling
the program and reinstalling it.

I think Marvin is on the right track. The browser is a likely
culprit here, as it remembers the last folder browsed. Were you
browsing the folder before deleting it? That is the only folder
memory I can think of that is not triggered by something you do,
such as File > Open. There is no way to turn this off in
preferences.

In any case, it is a defect. If you can give a good recipe for
making it happen to tech support, they will put it on the pile.

Thanks, fellers! This is a super old version -- 3.11 -- maybe it was fixed
later. It's an inconvenience, but for the amount of time I spend using PSP,
it's not trouble enough to warrant spending actual $$$ on it, though.

It didn't need to be fixed later. It wasn't ever a problem when the
program was run under the operating system it was designed for. The
version of PSP that you're using is over a decade old, and not
surprisingly, only marginally compatible with your current operating
system.

It has always done that from day with the version of Windows it was designed
for and others.

Thanks jus the same, but I was actually hoping for advice from someone more
familiar with the program.

Today, with great enthusiasm and quite emphatically, Uni laid
this on an unsuspecting readership ...

I seldom agree with you on anything, but you are certainly right
here! Tim ain't too bright about anything, is he?

*snort*

"More familiar" than Tim Morrison? Okay, "Fred" - I'm sure someone "more
familiar" with both PSP and Windows OS's will be right along to help you.

Of course, there aren't a lot of Windows 3.1 or Win 95 users left around to
guide you, but hey...

You'll probably have a hard time convincing anyone that you're
knowledgeable about operating systems while posting from a machine using
Windows ME.

So, Tim, what happened to Kris Zalicka? He, too, get booted from Corel?

:-)

Maybe they'll hire someone who uses an abacus, to do their calculations.
