I posted earlier about upgrading from PSP 8.1, and should I go with 9 or X. I
just downloaded the trial version of PSP X to give it a try. So far it looks
like I can set it up exactly like PSP 8 is set up so I'm comfortable with that
aspect. One thing I notice though, and it's probably a setting I missed while
copying my settings from 8 to X. When I open a folder, the do a Browse on it,
when I double click on an image within Browse, when the image opens, the Browse
box is still on top. In fact, I can't even click on the image to make it come to
the from, I have to move the Browse box out of the way. Now that doesn't seen
right for Windows (XP Pro) How can I change this quirk?

Also, as I downloaded this for a test run, if I buy a hard copy, say from eBay,
will I have to uninstall the download or can I install from a disk overtop and
use the serial number that comes with the disk?

One last question. I notice that Animation Shop is a thing of the past? Since I
still have it on my drive from PSP 8, is there a way of keeping it if I decide
to go with PSP X and uninstall PSP 8? Thanks for any help.

If you're going to be using (or trying) PSPX, you should probably
migrate to the Corel PSP groups where many more people who use
several versions of PSP congregate. The browser issue has been
dealt with extensively there, and when you subscribe you can
either search for relevant words (browser is, of course, a good
one) or even post your question there and will likely get many
more responses.

If interested in joining the Corel PSP groups, go to this link:

Scroll down to the groups you'd like to join and click on the
links.

Now we did tell you about the browser.
Its now a pallet and can be toggled on and off or rolled up but It is now
part of the PSP workspace so it will be on top of the workspace not hidden
behind it

You want the last animation shop 3.11
and a bit of trickery http://tinyurl.com/rqjf7
shows how

ith the browser open, look on the far left side. Click on
the little push pin to change whether the browser remains open.

All versions of PSP can co-exist together on the hard drive, just
install PSPX into it's own folder. FWIW: Best Buy has PSPX on sale this
week; I think the final price is $29.99 after rebates.

Animation Shop is a separate program - you can keep it as long as you like.

If u decide to buy PSP X from ANY merchant that touts a rebate offer
(which the last time I checked was only $30), make sure you send in
everything Corel wants: a copy of the receipt, the rebate form filled
out completely, and MOST IMPORTANT, the UPC code cut from
the package containing the software disk and manuals. If you fail
to comply with Corel's demands, not only do you not get the rebate,
but you are also out whatever it cost you to buy this worthless
piece of tripe. Even then, you still might not get the rebate when u
send in everything. I know because it happened to me.
9.01 is good enuf for me.

Actually, after version 7, PSP sales sharply dropped. Jasc more or less
begged past customers, my postal mail, to purchase version 8. However,
it had so many problems, sales dropped even farther. Jasc had no other
choice but to sell out to a foreign country.

That's true with pretty much any rebate - Corel or others. Personally, I
never had a problem getting rebates - my main complaint with rebates is
that you have to wait several weeks before they arrive - just another
example of deficit spending. AFAIC, rebates need to go the way of the
dinosaur - just put the damn product on sale already. Of course then all
those rebate companies will go out of business causing another economic
sprial, more deficit spending, higher interest rates.....AAAAGGGGGHHHH!

I still use 9 = thought about X, but decided wasn't worth the extra
bucks - even at $29.99. As they say: if it ain't broke, don't upgrade....
