Pixel Depth/Colors Change Version 5
|
|
|
| Hi folks, I have been a long time but infrequent user of PSP5 and have
muddled my way through mainly restoring old printed manuals, diagrams
etc.
I have just spent considerable time restoring/retouching a graphic, I
have completed the black work and set out to fill two sections with
red and green.
However the best I can get is brown and pink. I notice that the image
has a Pixel Depth/Color of 8/256, whereas all the images I have done
before are 24/16 million. This I presume is the problem.
I have subsequently "Acquired" other graphics and they come up with
the full range of colors available for color replacer, paint brush,
ect.
Can I convert the image so that I can have my red and green or must I
start again?
Many thanks, hope I have not been too long winded.
Jamie

Go to Colors:Increase Color Depth:16 Million Colors (24 bit).

That's a good way, and I'll add another. PSP works with the colors
present in the palette. In later editions of PSP, one can edit the
palette; I assume you can in PSP 5 as well. Look for an "Edit
Palette" item amid the menus. Double click a palette entry to set
its color. You can change an existing one, which will immediately
change that color everywhere in the image. Or you can set one of the
unused entries, if any, shown in black at the end of the palette.

| Boy! That was quick! many thanks very much appreciated. It's 11pm here
now so will try tomorrow. What a relief that I don't have to start
again.

| Worked like a charm! How could I have missed the obvious. Guess that's
what happens when one gets frustrated.
Thanks again,
Jamie.
