Images on the CD would be read only and your copies will probably be so too

Select all files, right click on them and select Properties, uncheck the
Read Only flag.

Some file handlers can be set to reset read only flags when copying files
from CD to HD, can't remember if WE does as haven't used it for some time.

The images are Read Only. I use a very handy free utility called Clear Read
Only Attributes, it can do a single file or a whole folder. The URL:

http://davidcrowell.com/Croa.aspx

You simply select the image or folder, right click, and choose CROA from the
context menu. Works very well, and I have done hundreds of photos at a time
in a single folder.

You don't need a separate utility to do that, you can do it in Windows
Explorer with individual or whole folders of files.

Unless it is a R/W CD, you can't make any changes to it. You can't save to it. You can't
erase any part of it. It is read only.

True. And it only works on files on the HD, not files on the CD.
