Do you think PaintShopPro will survive now that Corel has control of it?

Corel have certainly made a mess of PaintShopProX.

Let's hope that Corel fixes up PaintShopProX.

I finally managed to find a way through to PSP8 but there have been no
new posts since early Friday. I thought maybe I was doing something
incorrectly (never having used a group that comes through a server
such as Corel) but even though I loaded a couple of other groups to
check, they keep updating, but not Corel.

It puzzles me because on the Corel site they have a flashy 'New!'
after the PSP groups. I realize Corel bought out Jasc but why would
it be in their interests to cut PSP owners off ? Or are they not
doing that ? I would love to know what it all means!

It seams that some groups are not updating but the Feature
Request,Photography and scripting groups are working as normal. It is also
affecting coreldraw and a few other groups.
We had a short break last week end but for that The server has performed
very well

Yes, Jerry, we can see that, by the looks of your, ahem, Muscle Car, photos.

Today All Things Mopar commented courteously on the subject
at hand

Reported to your /real/ ISP and NSP. Full headers, full text,
my headers, the works. It is trivial to show that you're
spoofing me. Enjoy your posting privelidges - your days as a
poster are number, "ATM".

You know, you should check around some before doing this
stuff. I really am insane...

It's more widespread that just most of the PSP groups... CorelDraw 12,
Photo-Paint 12, and WordPerfect 12 groups are all not showing new posts
either.

I don't know. But I do know that I won't be upgrading at least as long
as Corel owns PSP. After trying the X trial for about a minute, I
decided to stick with PSP9.

I got an error message when I tried to change preferences, and a crash
when I tried to exit, and since the only new feature I had encountered
was the horrible new browser which stays on top of the images when it
isn't docked (what the hell could they possibly have been thinking?),
it didn't seem worth the effort to figure out what was wrong.

I also noticed (and commented on this in a post that has gone into a
(temporary?) bit bucket) that they seem to have "lost" a great many PSP
tutorials from the Jasc site as well - tutorilas that they had carefully
archived. Everything before version 8 at least - and a lot of that is
relevant to all versions, with generic techniques for doing things. A few
can be found back via the Wayback machine - but not all.

Hopefully it is just a hangover from the holidays and now we are
seriously into 2006 someone will attend to it and get everything
running smoothly.

I only just purchased my copy of PSP8, having seen 7 & 8 at work, and
still don't regret it but would be sad to see this extra feature go
west :(

Bering in mind that a lot of tutorials on the jasc site did not belong to
them but where only hosted by them. So not all could be moved.
http://snipurl.com/f7ij
That gets you some archived ones

I'm aware of that - but they could have asked the copyright owners for
the "hosted" tutorial. But older Jasc-authored tutorials have
disappeaered as well.

All links to older Jasc and hosted tutorials (archived or not) nor
redirect to that URL which doesn't have them. It's only for version 8
and up - anything for version 7 and older has disappeared, it seems. And
that's a *lot* of stuff.

I'm hoping that some of the older but stil useful tutorials that can
still be retrieved through the Wayback machine have some contact
information in them so maybe they could be re-published elsewhere if
Corel is not interested and the copyright owner gives permission.

I have no idea what it "means" if anything, but it seems they have gotten
over their bout of server flu. At least the PhotoAlbum 6 group is up again
(and my posts of Saturday visible), and assuming it was localized to one
machine other groups are hopefully functional again, too.
