I missed Photoshop 7 because it didn't offer me a significant
improvement compared with Photoshop 6. So I can't compare CS with 7 by
personal experience.

But, once I bought a digital camera, and started shooting Raw, I
immediately upgraded to CS (8). Then, when it arrived, to CS2 (9). They
are both MAJOR upgrades for Raw processing.

This illustrates that whether a new version is an improvement to you
depends on your photography and how you work. Just as with PSP
versions, and for that matter, the difference between PS and PSP.

(I don't believe the statement about "less control over the tasks and
tools". But I can understand issues with performance in some cases,
because it grows with each release. And I can imagine that there are
some interaction problems between Photoshop and versions of Mac,
although I use Windows and so don't get those problems).
