| I have a weird printing problem I cannot figure out. I am using PSP 9 and
printing a B/W photo scan to a Epson Stylus C86 printer. The printer is
working correctly because when I print a test page, it prints the text in
perfect black. Here's the problem:
I am trying to print a black and white photograph that some one scanned and
sent me. No matter what I do, the picture prints in tones of green instead
of grayscale. I've tried prints where I changed the image to grayscale (it
appeared black but had a pixel depth of 24/16 million) and printed with the
PSP print setting set to grayscale (or to color) and all print in the same
tones of green.
Both the image seen in PSP and the print preview show the image as grayscale
but they print green. The image properties are
jpeg; 549 x 376 Pixels; 72 ppi; Pixel depth/colors = 8/256; number of layers
= 1.
Why can't it print in grayscale instead of shades of green?
Thanks.

I have an analogous problem: when I use PSP 9.0 everything is fine. But if
I upgrade to PSP 9.01 the print preview looks fine, but prints in sepia!
Reverting back to 9.0 and everything is fine again.

While I don't know what causes the problem, if the image is truly
greyscale then I'd suggest perhaps updating your printer driver.
And, of course, you can always select Greyscale in your printer
dialogue.

Interesting. The version I have is 9.01 which I purchased direct from
Corel. I therefore do not have version 9.0 I wonder if they have a support
number I can call. I'll look into it. I thought it was my printer that was
messed up.

With me both 9.00 and 9.01 (int versions) printed fine. Have either of
you by chance loaded colour profiles in more than one place or wrongly
adjusted PSP Gamma Correction?

The picture is truly grayscale; and I would think the printer should be able
to print it that way automatically if the correct information is sent by
PSP. Besides, the option to change the printer to grayscale does not appear
among the various option screens for the printer in PSP9 nor can I find it
in the printer's properties.

I am just learning PSP9, so I did not load a color profile nor do I know
what it is. Did not touch the PSP Gamma Correction. I just checked my gamma
setting and it is 1, 1, 1. It's really wierd because the preview looks fine
in grayscale but the printing is green! It has to be some printer setting
but I cannot find it in PSP.

Or a black ink problem. Printers use all the colours when doing grey scale
to get better greys 255 of cyan + 255 of yellow + 255 Magenta + black If
the black is not giving enough then the colours can become a tint Maybe even
low on magenta
Have you tried printing the same image from the Printer and Fax Print wizard
