Author Changing wood color in furniture images?

I have cut-out images of pieces of furniture of a certain wood type
(all against a white background) but need to create *identical* images
of each piece in a range of lighter and darker woods (so I can do some
mouseover effects). The grain on the original image doesn't matter as I
can soften it a little as required.

Can anyone please give me any pointers as to how this can be done?

Many thanks.

Many ways depending on your skills but try Hue, Saturation and lightness and
colorize
