I am unable to change the shape of an ellipse using psp9. Whenever I click
on a node, it does not turn black as I have read it should, and it only
moves the ellipse, not change the shape. I have used psp7 and there is an
option to "retain style" and it missing from psp9...am I missing something?
here's what I have done...
open new image,
click on preset shapes,
draw an ellipse
go to pen tool, click on edit mode,
I can change the ellipse to a circle, or longer or shorter ellipse,
but cannot change it to ...the shape of an egg. My mouse does turn into
an arrow of sorts when I hover over the node, (on right side of ellipse)but
cannot drag it from it's position up or down, only left and right.
I have changed every setting that I could find...
Any suggestions would be helpful..
thanks

Are you using pre set shapes or the vector "ellipse tool" this is new to PSP
9 and works differently. (the standard shapes are still available under
Preset shapes the bottom one in the menu {key = p}).

In the layers pallet select your ellipse and then convert to path, you will
now have the normal control that you are used to

Thanks Trev, that did the trick...
I have looked in help files, learning center, and nowhere does it tell me to
convert to path.
Maybe I am suppose to know?

It's there Marianne :)
Under the Index tab in help

'Convert to Path command'

This will apply to the ellipse tool, the rectangle tool and the
symmetrical shape tools but not of the preset shapes which are already
paths.

You can do some node editing without converting to path by using the
pen tool and dragging nodes but the edit will be repeated on the
opposite node in the ellipse shape and is limited to adjusting the
corner radii on the rectangle shape and will be repeated on all four
corner. More extensive editing can be done on the symmetric shape and
will be repeated on all sides (polygon) or points (star). You can
also add nodes in the symmetric shape but only on the side or point to
the right of the start node, the added node will appear on all sides
or points.

Now that I know what to look for, and know what "convert to path" means I
can find it. When I was trying to change the shape of an ellipse...without
knowing the "jargon" the help index doesn't help..
again thank you all......

You may find it useful to use the Search tab, rather than the Index in
help, (and not only in PSP)... this will find items containing your
keyword even when that word isn't in the title.
I don't think that the term "path" can be considered "jargon" when
talking about vector graphics. It may well be a term that you're
unfamiliar with, but that isn't because the term is an obscure one that
is only used as a code word amongst a group of insiders.
