Further info: this happens with Wide Latin 72 pt. font used in lowercase,
but not in Wide Latin 72 pt. font in uppercase.

My ISP strips binaries from this text-only newsgroup. Could you post
it elsewhere with a pointer to it here, please? Also, what version
of PSP 7? Please give all the settings in the Text Entry dialog,
including the materials used in Stroke and Fill. I get good-looking
text with 72-pt. lower case Wide Latin, but probably have different
settings.

Joe Fromm, formerly of Jasc, said PSP-6 had peculiar problems with
certain fonts. So, I guess they found their way into PSP-7, maybe PSP-8
and 9, too.

Always guessing, never knowing. Nothing new here.

Hi Fred,
I've expanded my posting slightly and posted it in
news:alt.binaries.paint-shop-pro where you can see the image.
As is the way with these things, I have been unable to replicate the problem
today, but I'm still curious as to why it happened.

If you can reproduce it again, a screenshot of the text entry box might
be useful, as might a copy of the file in .psp format. I've tried it
with a variety of options and can't reproduce it.
One possibility is that the font has become corrupted. A list of
(Microsoft) programs that include it is at
http://www.microsoft.com/typography...Latin&FVER=1.51 .
You might be able to extract a fresh copy from the installation disc...
the name of the file is latinwd.ttf, and it will probably be inside a
..cab file, so you'll need something like WinZip to extract it. Or you
could make a backup copy of the existing file, delete it from your font
folder and do a repair installation of the program that installed it.

Got it. I see nothing wrong with the settings that you mention.
Beyone what Tim said, given that it does not happen to others and no
longer to you, I'd assign it to some other defect having corrupted
part of memory having to do with the font or its execution. Fonts
are little programs that PSP interprets. Windows keeps them in a
cache, which Win XP protects better than Win 9x. All this is a
high-falutin' way of saying that we may never know.

Soberon, why don't you get back on your camel and mosey away.

I'll go two weeks after your last post in this NG.

| Thanks Tim and Fred,
I'll keep an eye on it and if it occurs again I'll capture the text entry
box as well as the steps leading up to it.
