Lighten small section of picture

| I had a picture sent to me and because of the bright sky in the
background, an important object is under exposed. How do I lighten
only a single object in a frame?

Isolate it from the rest of the image with either selections or masks. As
your asking Then I think a selection will be best fro you. zoom in to 100 to
200 % and use the point to point freehand selection to draw round it placing
a click at each change in conjure. Take you time one done you can use the
tool of your chose, I would go for histogram adjustments, to adjust the
lightness.

I just started using XanaNews. They have a feature called the Bozo
bin. You're my first candidate. When you emerge from puberty, perhaps

| You actually can shine a lamp on an object using illumination effects. I use
PSP ver 7. and do it all the time. Don't know where they are in later
versions.

I can see that would work. I just don't have a steady enough hand to
select the area with precision. It's a job where a stylus and tablet
would do better for me. When I get up over 200% zoom, all the object
isn't on the screen at a time. I tried the auto-select, but it
selected part of the object and part of some areas I wasn't interested
in. I need practice some more. I also tried to change the mouse speed
and that helped some. I may try to do it in sections. It's not a
catastrophe if I don't get it done. Thanks again for the tip.

| Hi Billy:
You can use the Shift and Control keys in conjunction with the
selection tool to add or remove areas to the selection. This way you
don't have to select the entire area at one go. You do part of it,
move the screen around so you can see another part of it, and select
that part. And so on.

When your zoomed in its much easier to put the clicks down precisely and as
the cursor gets to the edge of the viewing area it will autoscroll in that
direction so that you can carry on.
I bought a Graphos for the same reason early on but find the mouse click
rocker hard to use and have now perfected my mouse control to something
useful Still cant draw but then I could not with pencil and paper
