PSP X / Photo Impact 11.

| I would like to upgrade from my current PSP 7 to either PSP X or Photo
impact 11, but read reports of bugs in both programs. Does anyone have any
thoughts on either of these programs ?
Many thanks,
Mick.

I use both programs, and have to say I have had no problems with either.
Both have certain advantages the other doesn't, only you can decide which is
right for you.
You can download trials of both and check them out for yourself if you'd
like.

I'm afraid few, if any, software releases come without some bugs.
However, you can download trials of both of these programs to see
if they work for you. To learn more from some users of the Corel
PSPX program you might want to go to the Corel PSP user newsgroups
which they host on their own server. You can go to the link below
which lists all of the product newsgroups Corel hosts and click on
the ones you wish to subscribe to. No user id or password needed,
as they are moderated groups:

I'm sure if you go to the Ulead site they will likely also have
forums that you can join to ask users about their products,
including Photo Impact.

Mick...
I played around with trial versions of PSP for years and finally decided
to get serious and pay up last month. In some ways I am a little
dissapointed with this version. The last version I used before this one
was 8.0 (never tried 9) and I thought it was really nice. The animation
tool is missing from the current version, though I believe you can
continue to use the one in version 7. I don't think I am qualified to
comment on the technical details at any serious depth, but I fear Corel
is using their programming chops to make PSP into an easy photo editing
app for the inexperienced, instead of making it into a badass photo
editing app for the old guard.
Unless there is something you can do using PSPX that you can't do using
v7, you should probably save your money.

Oh! I'm going to tell Corel that they have a non loyal C-Tech on their
hands!

I agree with you to a point, and particularly about v.X. But
Iwould suggest that perhaps the OP might perhaps look for sales of
boxed versions of 8 or 9, because both do offer some good
enhancements over 7 (if you need them, and not everybody does, of
course). Just a thought.

I have version 8, and have seen the warnings about X, so was
thinking about getting hold of 9. Have you any idea where boxed
versions of 9 would be available? Hopefully at knock down prices.
I have seen the CDs available on Ebay, but these may be of
questionable origin, and have no manuals.

Manuals for various versions of PSP can be downloaded from here:

As far as finding a boxed version of v.9, I can only suggest
calling various software retailers in your area to see if they
have any copies, which would likely be at reduced prices if they
have them, and of course Amazon or Ebay online. You can no longer
get it from Corel.

| Many thanks to all who replied. I downloaded a trial version of both
programs and have been playing with both, but for me the PSP X wins out.
I'm not saying PI is no good, but I guess I'm used to using my old PSP 7 and
find the newer version easier to learn. I have looked everywhere in the
'net and called many shops for an old copy of V9, but I cannot find one.

This link which I got from Amazon's page seems to have some PSP9
boxed versions for sale:
