| Using crop tool to set my selection on a jpg image, then going to image, the
crop to selection choice is grayed out in PSP 8.10 -- does anyone know how
to get it to work?

The Crop to Selection only works when you have made a selection with
the Selection Tool (not the Crop Tool). If you're using the Crop Tool
then once having set the area just Apply (the tick mark on the Tool
Option Palette)
