Question about editing selections

| Using PSP9. When I edit a selection and paint or erase the mask it
appears OK while in the selection editing mode. When I switch off that
mode the selection marquee shows some residuals which are not seen in
the Edit Selection mode so I have keep going back and forth till it's
done.
Can anything be done on that so the final selection marquee reflects
correctly what what was seen in the Editing mode?
Thanks, Nathan

As painting with black adds and white removes which is what I hope you meant
by erase Then you must be missing bits. Zoom in well and dont use to soft a
brush unless your trying to create soft fathered edges in which case you my
not have be leaving gaps by your chose of grey or brush density
