Come on Combaticus, you're just trying to flatter me. "Ex-Republican" hit
the nail on the head, and I want to come clean. He's right, I don't have
any artistic ability - I'll be the first to admit it. And he's a good judge
of character or lack thereof, which is where I fit in, if you know what I
mean. Btw, why does everyone "killfile" me. I mean, is it just because
I'm a troll???

Where can your artwork be seen?

Graphic art is subjective so to each their own. I think the toon type
characters and typeface on that site is very well done. The best I've seen
for toon type drawing is by far from the 'Wizard of Draws' himself, Jeff
Bucchino, http://www.wizardofdraws.com.

Take care,

He's just a logo designer...

If you wanna talk artists... look up people such as Linda Berkgvist, Amy Brown. Just a couple of my favourite artists,
but there are millions out there and everyone has their own opinion about their favourite artist.

Though.. I do agree with you that this cartoon drawer is quite talented! But he's not a logo designer... and THAT'S what
we're actually talking about here! Thus... the question mark (?) at the end of artist in the subject field when talking
about "Mike"!

Mike... as he likes to call himself... though some would like to call him an artist... actually likes to use other
peoples ideas to make his graphics look good! He takes logo's from such examples as Jeff Bucchino ('Wizard of Draws')...
not particularly this artist.. but such as him, and then just add text and poorly made text effects. Anyone can do that!
It's quite a stress reliever if I do say so myself... though I don't make a penny for stealing other peoples ideas and
logos... I do it for fun and to create my own personal website, that's all.. and give proper credit when doing so
whenever I can... Unlike "Mike" the stealing logo designer here...

My 5 cents... Keep the change! :)

Uni you poor little baby. Did T a n y a spank you a little too hard?
hahaha So you want to come out and use my great name "Combaticus"... well
go ahead little guy... Everyone here knows you use my name from time to
time when you get a little upset. And don't worry, we understand why you're
feeling less than adequate. Because someone said you weren't "all that"!
hahaha The rest of already knew that. It took T a n y a a few days
to figure out what a shmuck you are. hahahahaha.

Well for those that don't know Uni: aka Danhiel, MartinS, FakeArtistMike,
JP, TheOne, MinorityOpinion, JP232 --- doesn't he sound like a pathetic
troll? And sometimes he uses my name, "Combaticus" when he's real
desperate, like he did above.

Take a look at our little "artist" Uni... On the link below, you'll see some
of his other aliases referred to above. Don't worry, it's the same troll.

http://tinyurl.com/62yte This will give you a nice picture of what Uni is
all about. After that, I'm sure you'll "killfile" him like virtually
everyone else does on this forum.

Yes, I agree art is subjective as is each individual's choice of Artist
which is normally based on the genre of art. There is a very wide range of
art specialties and a person specializing in one is not necessarily going to
be good or knowledgeable about other specialties. For example a Painter is
not necessarily going to be good at the art of 'Type' or the art of business
logo design. Likewise the Logo Designer (a specialty of Graphic Design) may
not excell at painting. Yet, the art of type is just as important in design
and layout as the art of painting is to a gallery, as is the art of logo
design to the business community. You look for an appropriate Graphic Artist
(one that specializes in logo design) when you want a company logo made, and
logo design is an 'Art' that some Graphic 'Artists' specialize in. A Logo
Designer is an Artist, just like Van Gogh was a Painter and Artist.

Your frustration with this person Mike is quite obvious (it is actually
coming across as a burning hatred that is eating you up) in posts where you
bring him up. In your attempts to hurt this Mike person (who seems not to
give two hoots what you think) you indirectly claimed that Logo Designers
are not Artists without any regard to how many Logo Designers that you
didn't have a beef with, and who know differently, are reading this group as
well. It appears you are losing a battle you appear to be fighting by
yourself.

I don't know this Mike person, nor do I care who likes him and who doesn't.
His art work is well done for the speciality it falls under in my opinion,
and looking at well done art is something I enjoy. Whether I like the Artist
or not is a moot point to me. It is really too bad that your hatred for Mike
has to blind you so much in a few posts because your neutral posts in other
threads indicate you are a fun and refreshing person.

Take care,
Linda

Prove your insinuations. You have a database of posts in this group from me
dating back to 1996 to search and choose from. You'll be hard pressed to
find more than a rare and short lived moment of giving in to the tempation
of name calling.

I wonder if a search for your posts in the last two years would prove the
same.

As "art is in the eye of the beholder", you should allow others their
opinions too.
And if they dislike Mike personally it has to be caused by HIS postings, as
that's
all the contact anyone (TINA) in here (TINH) has with him.

Wow... your interpretation of what I had previously written
about "Mike" AND logo designers couldn't be further from
the truth.

I don't understand how hatred could have been portrayed so much
when I don't even know Mike! But... disrespect is another story!

Logo Designers are artists... no doubt about that, but there
is a line drawn when some logo designers steal other people's art,
and just add text to the art/logos and make a profit from it!
That is disrespectful and no doubt a copyright infringement.
If the logo's were made for personal use, that would be a different
story, but obviously.. they are not.

End of story. You obviously had misinterpreted
my previous post on the subject

lol... most people here just don't "get" you, Mike! :))

Janet

Uhoh...Ron just threw the door wide open to being
a MIke Christy Net Toy.

Brian Mays

Your toybox is brimming!

The Doormouse

[Mike] Are you the devil?

Brian Mays

Oh, now you've done it. You've invoked his name.

Emil Mroz

The one and only Mike C...

mezza

I'm a Mike (C.)olohic ... What about you???

Dave Moon

It's a sad man who actually TRIES to
get on the list...

Brian

Hi Mike, Isn't it about time for your annual
posting of newsgroup users comments
about you? Absolutely one of the few things in
this group worth looking forward to.

Keith

Mike hasn't lost the plot,
he just rewrites it as he goes.

Emil Mroz

See, Mike writes his little messages of
independence and responsibility to people
like you... but most 'get' the exact opposite
message, and start jumping through that hoop.

You have spent most of your time here doing
cartoons... Now you seem to need Mike for your
inspiration. Like Rubens needed women,
many of you need a Mike.

Joske

To understand the concept, you have to look
for past posts about MikeC's "game", which he
plays with his "net toys"... it's surreal...
like Mr Bean doing "The Matrix"...

"The Game"... it's actually a social thing...
a phenomenon only possible in the Virtual world.

Giuseppe Carmine De Blasio

BTW, I don't block Mike C - because his posts
are always ... aimed incisively at the ego of the
previous poster. People who buy into his game
for very long - trading sentences and paragraphs
for his one liners - appear foolish.

Mike Russell

He has been doing this for a decade or more.
You'll even occasionally see people asking openly
where Mike C is, when he hasn't shown himself for
a while. It's fair to say Mike C will be remembered
here far after you and I are gone.

Mike Russell

There actually is no Mike C. He is a computer
program developed in 1983 as a class project
in artificial intelligence by a unnamed student
at MIT. This now-antiquated software has taken
a life of it's own and has infected thousands of
Web servers around the world. In 1996 a cult of
Mike C. fans attempted to further humanize the
hoax by designing a Web site, creating Mike's
bio and adding staged photos of cult members
in disguise. The cult pre-paid the artistmike.com
hosting for 1001 years in 1999...

Dave Moon

I like Mike though, he is good at being an XXX,
not just mental like the other trolls. He makes one
think a bit... It would be not all that fun around here
without him

HillBilly Jack

Please stay on topic. This is a forum discussing
Artist Mike.

Brad H

Your frustration with this person Mike is quite
obvious (it is actually coming across as a
burning hatred that is eating you up). It appears
you are losing a battle you appear to be fighting by
yourself.

I don't know this Mike person, nor do I care who
likes him and who doesn't. His art work is well
done for the speciality it falls under in my opinion,
and looking at well done art is something I enjoy.

Not really. See, this is a Photoshop newsgroup.
You post photographs of clown masks and other
stuff that has nothing to do with Photoshop.
Does that make sense ? I didn't think so.

That you're a talentless hack who relies on

That it's time to buy a new cinder block to

That the trees seem to have cut off all your
sunshine ?
That you think adding "ArtistMike.com" to

My newsreader wont let me emboss my gripe,

I like the "Making a Logo" tutorial.
Step 1. Make a Logo.
Step 2. Apply the emboss filter.
Have you ever noticed that there are no companies
with more than 2 employees anywhere in the world
with embossed shiny logos ?

You should respect other people, and find an

he's 'sock puppeting', another childish vein practiced widely in the
IRC's (relay chats, chatrooms). He says something under one name, then
replies under another, then often continues the discourse with yet a
third name. Looks like some 70% of this ng's activity is UNI.
Since he's using a news service that's protecting his IP, there's no
easy way to get him to leave the ng alone. The very fact that *anyone*
responds to anything at all he/she posts with anything at all feeds it.

Desperate? Lonely? Acting out needs walking all over social
boundaries? Deffo. If he/she is on probation, then they are about one
step across the wrong boundary from "Community Committment". That's
politically correct speak for institutionalized.
