Author exporting a selection to jpg

I just bought PSP 8.0 and I simply cannot find a way to export a selection
to a jpg. This is what I'm doing: I scan a whole page of stamps; then I
select one particular stamp and try to save or export "just it" directly to
a jpg. Anyone familiar with Corel Photo Paint will recognize the "copy to
file" command I am looking for in PSP.

Is this possible with PSP or do I have to copy and "paste as new image" and
then save or export it? I have tried copying the selection and saving the
copy to xxx.jpg but the whole page is saved not just the copied selection.
Thanks in advance.

On the one hand you can select an area, type Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V
and save the resulting image. On the other hand, you can
dispense with selections. Instead, crop the image, save the
cropped image, undo the crop (Ctrl-Z) and repeat for the next
section of image.
