Author error when printing to PDF

Using PSP 9.01 and Adobe Acrobat 6.
Successfully created numerous PDFs using PSP's Print command and the "Adobe
PDF" printer, but all of a sudden I'm getting this error message in a pop-up
window entitled "Script Output":
"Unknown error occurred with command QuickPrint".
At this point PSP is stuck and I have to terminate it via the Task Manager.
When using the same "Adobe PDF" printer from other applications, everything
works fine. Any ideas?

Markus

"Unknown error" isn't much help, is it? There are a few things you
might try to pin it down further.

Open the Script Output palette. Sometimes it shows more details.

Maybe a memory leak? Restart Windows and try again. If it works,
keep going and see if it runs into trouble later.

Is anything different about the image that fails to print? Uses
vectors, has transparency, has Art Media layers, is larger than
images that print OK?

You might find more details in the Windows Event Viewer right after
the error. Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer.
Look in the Application and System lists.

Thanks Fred for your hints. The event viewer indeed gives some more details.
In the meantime I found in the Adobe forum that others are having similar
problems with many other applications. Seems to be a problem of Adobe
Acrobat.
A workaround is to set "Adobe PDF" as default printer _before_ launching the
application from which you want to print.

Good detective work on your part, Markus. Thanks for passing along
the solution. It will be useful to someone else some day.
