I just started having this problem.
When I go to OPEN and point it to the folder I want.
The Browse option is grayed out, making it inaccessible.
Does anyone know of a way to correct this without reinstalling the
application?

This came up for one user with PSP 8 in the forum at
http://formus.jasc.com. The solution was to uninstall, clean out
possibly corrupted MS Installer files, and reinstall. The same
probably applies to PSP 9. (ZapJasc lets you choose the version to
clean.)

Save your workspace in your own folder separate from the PSP 8
program files first. That and your other resources saved there will
remain. I quote the solution from tech support below, which should
not take longer than ten minutes once you have downloaded ZapJasc.

This issue may be resolved by completely removing Paint Shop Pro 8,
then reinstalling it.
1. Left-Click on the following link, or copy and paste it into the
address bar of your web browser:
http://www2.jasc.com/pub/ZapJasc.exe
2. A window will open asking you what you want to do with the file.
Choose Save.
3. A window will open asking where you wish to save the file. Save
the ZapJasc.exe to a location where you will be able to easily find
the file. We recommend the Windows Desktop.
4. Once the utility has completed downloading, browse to the
location of the saved file. Double left-click on it to launch.
5. From the Product Drop-down menu, choose Paint Shop Pro 8.
6. Under Actions, add a checkmark next to all 4 options (Uninstall,
Run MSI Zap, Remove Registry Keys, Remove Installed Files).
7. Choose begin. The utility will begin to uninstall Paint Shop Pro
8. Then the utility will remove all other portions of the program.
Note: The files you have created, edited or saved with Paint Shop
Pro will NOT be deleted, moved or changed.
8. Once the entire process is complete, reinstall Paint Shop Pro
from your original Downloaded file or CD ROM.
9. Run Paint Shop Pro and note if the behavior continues.

If this doesn't clean up the problem,
then do exactly what Fred already told you.

Sorry, in my haste to get out the door, forgot to mention:

"Skip that first line about uninstalling/downloading and begin
with NOTE"

Below is the only part you need: Simply delete the Paint Shop
Pro directory from your hard drive and follow the instructions
listed below.

NOTE: Before you begin with the process detailed below remember
that instructions for editing the registry are intended for
experienced users only. The Windows Registry is at the core of
the operating system. Errors made in editing the registry could
damage your Operating System beyond repair resulting in loss of
data and a required reinstallation of the OS. If while you are
in the registry you make an error about which you are right away
aware of, immediately turn the machine off. Do NOT close the
registry editor, do NOT go to START> SHUTDOWN simply wait 2
minutes & then hit the switch to turn off the machine or cut off
power to it. This will cause Windows to load from the backup
registry that it makes every time it shuts down properly, hence
the mistake that you made will not have saved in the registry
and your machine should boot as it did previous to your editing.
If you are not comfortable with editing the registry you should
take these instructions to an experienced Windows technician or
contact the Jasc Software Inc. Technical Support Team at
952-930-9171 who will be happy to walk you through the process
of editing the registry.

Simply delete the Paint Shop Pro directory from your hard drive
and follow the instructions listed below.

Click "Start," choose "Run," and type "REGEDIT" in the Open text
entry box. Click OK. When the Registry Editor opens, click
Registry>Export Registry File, choose a filename, and save the
file. The program will automatically add a REG extension on to
the specified filename when it is saved. This file can serve as
a backup if necessary.

After creating the backup, double-click on the following
sequence of folders:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
JASC
Paint Shop Pro 8

The "Paint Shop Pro 8" entry should now be highlighted.

Hit the DELETE key on your keyboard, and click "Yes" to confirm
this deletion. Now close REGEDIT.
